The Boots was wonderful. The scent is very clean and the lather was great! If it's just a $2 stick it is very under priced. I like how the holder is desgined too. I would suggest you put some to use soonest!!! I am going to use the Windsor tomorrow.
It's pretty much the only cream left in my den besides Proraso. I like it quite a bit and in fact replaced the last tub that I used up. I'm still pretty much a soap user, but keep this one around for variety.
SOTD June 9, 2017 Blade: Personna Twinjector Razor: Schick L1 injector Brush: Omega 10049 boar Lather: Mitchell's Wool Fat Post: Witch hazel, Fine American Blend aftershave WTG Easy shave this evening. One pass is all I needed. Great lather from The Fat as smelling good with Fine American Blend. Not much else to report. Enjoy your night!
Awesome. I still have a full tub and most of another tub of the original. Maybe I will pick up some of the Maca and see if I like it now.
Saturday shave: Today's razor is my Revisor 6/8, I am sucker for heavy grind or shoulder less design full hollow. This razor is a couple shaves in from a complete honing that finished with a Shapton glass 16k, it is one of my few successful bottom up honings. The edge was velvety smooth and sharp. I made lots of lather so I did and extra pass WTG. The rating for this shave is epic, no irritation and a long lasting smooth face. Irritation A+ Closeness A+ Smoothness A+ Sharpness A
June 2017 Sticking to it! First ever shave with Boots. Boots is a UK drug chain that sells sticks and bowls of house brand shave soap, as well as AS and shave cream. It's woody and herbal, and very Arko/VDH. Really nice lather and slick too. Two passes to bliss and AS was great, same scent. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado. Have a great evening!
I learned the hard way in May just how fast this group runs now. It's a lot of fun and I don't want it to slow down or stop - but yeah, I don't ever want to get behind again either!
The shenanigan quota does seem a bit low at the moment. Something tells me that won't last forever. Too many shenanigators around here!
June 2017!!! Trials and Tribulations June 9 Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (6) Blade - (2) Soap - Arko Brush - Jayaruh #46 Post - Alum Second shave with the Super-Max Platinum and it's a winner at the middle of the aggressive scale on the Slim. Can't complain about anything. Smooth, no blood, quiet alum and the result seems to bear out its position in the middle of the sharpness scale as well. Clearly a good match at this level and I'm thinking it will stay smooth and effective at 9 tomorrow night. @Linuxguile suggested that perhaps the Super-Max would be the winner of the budget blade category and that is a possibility. I'm going to put some price points to the blades based on a number of sellers and see how they compare to some others. I suspect they will be close if they don't win that title. Of course, if one or two of them turn into junk that could change things but somehow I doubt that will happen. Looks like we are set to go camping later this month. We'll have some extra room if you don't mind roughing it a bit.
So...I am pulling night duty at the hospital with my eldest daughter. Came in with a dangerously high fever and heart rate. Will be here at least a couple of days. She is finally resting and I am wide awake watching. So, while I am waiting... ... The new lather catcher came in earlier today. It was a bit anticlimactic as I had to knock out a quick shave before I took over night duty, but I did take a couple of quick (and pretty crappy) pics. It looks better in person than the pics show. I will take some better pics after the more important things get handled. It's a beautiful piece of work. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
