So I was looking at eBay this morning and ran into two pictures that struck me as odd.

    1) Read the highlighted portion of the jar of OSMA shaving soap.

I need to find a "Badger" to apply the soap. I wonder, does the badger need to be alive to get the best lather?

    2) When you are buying aftershave by the gallon you really need to reevaluate your aftershave usage. Either how much you are using and/or the brand.

I always hold my badger by the snout. Less chance of getting bit and the tail creates a great lather. :)

The side of the badger lathers quite well. Use this hold.

Just make sure it isn't a honey badger. Jeremy Clarkson says they're quite...dangerous.

Live badgers can be VERY dangerous. Trust me, I used to be in the fur business!

I will trust you. Normally I don't trust anything a salesman says.

Just soak it for at least twenty minutes submerged in warm water. They get more pliable when you do that.

I soak mine for about 12min while I'm in the shower. If I have to soak it for 20mins I need to let the wife take the first shower. Do you think it will fit in the little ice cream dish I use for a lather bowl?

In that case I would use one of my travel badgers. They require a shorter soak time and fit in a small bowl. [IMG]

    I prefer a more refined self-lathering badger.[IMG]

Ok Here's the deal with badger, the normal live one's provide a little to much schritch and scrub for my taste with the claws and teath an such mind you YMMV. Then there's the gmo type, mixed with scapegoat dna but I found those to be a bit floppy. My personal recommendation is deceased but the processing must be by fear or electrocution that way the hairs really stand up. Fantastic for face lathering but not so much for bowls lathering.

I've found I have to use an extra-large bowl, and shave kneeling by the tub. They also waste a LOT of soap.

(Trawling E-Bay. Sounds like me, just fishing around to see what comes out. The vintage dissecting razor was tempting for next year's MayHEM, but I decided that $25 plus shipping was a bit much _just_ for MayHEM)
