I had a bottle of 4711 - this is what I thought you were using for your aftershave. It seems like my bottle was either lost, somewhere misplaced in the house, or perhaps my brother-in-law decided to swipe it without first asking me! lollll
I love my brother-in-law dearly. He's more like a brother to me than a brother-in-law but he has a habit of being very presumptuous. I remember being at his office last week and I saw a tube of Everest shaving cream in his bathroom. That's a Russian cream that I still enjoy from time to time and lucky I have a spare or I would have been vewy angwy!
My brother-in-law "borrowed" two items over the years from me without asking so I know the feeling all to well though not an issue as he has sent some pretty good software my way over the years.
I refer to him as "that lovable mooch." I must have given him at least a hundred creams, soaps, aftershaves, etc over the years. It was myself who converted him to real wetshaving. I even gave him a Ming Shi TTO with a hundred Derbys and an Omega boar brush. My other brother-in-law uses only one setup which is an Omega brush, a cheap Chinese-made DE, Wilkinson blades, Proraso Green soap, and whatever aftershaves he himself buys.

Looks like I'm late to the party on Sunday again! Here's Sunday's shave. June 2017!!! Trials and Tribulations June 11 Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (3) Blade - (1) Soap - Arko Brush - Jayaruh #46 Post - Alum Next! Changing over to the Super-Max Titanium blade to see what it can do. The slogan, "Feel the Power of Titanium" makes me wonder if it sends out a lightning bolt or something. Alas, nothing so dramatic. This does beg a question in blade manufacturing and sales. At what point does image and gimmick kick in and overcome actual functionality purpose? Is Titanium any better as a coating than Platinum? Does it help the blade last longer since it's a harder metal? Does it provide extra glide due to its unique structure? Or is it just another coating that works fine, as does Platinum and Teflon and even extra Stainless plating - otherwise known as chrome - so it really makes no difference in the final say? I'm not going to say I'll sort that all out this time, but it does beg the question enough that I see a comparison trial based on coatings in the future. As for tonight's shave, titanium is a red flag for me as I do have a sensitivity to a titanium ring. Potentially, my face could react negatively so I'm watching for any signs of extra irritation or redness or other discomfort. The lather was great as it should be with the Jayaruh #46 and Arko, and the two pass and touch up produced a nice DFS. I'm sending the blade isn't overly sharp, but it is smooth and sharp enough to work at the mild level. As far as any negative effects to my skin? None noted so I'll continue on with the blade for another night. My first impression is positive but....to be honest.......I can't really tell a difference from this one or the Platinum from the past three days. Yet, anyway. My weekend has arrived! Yours is ending!! Yeah, I'll rub that in just a bit.
