June 2017!!! Trials and Tribulations - YAKUZA RESPECT SHAVE June 16 Razor - Delta Echo New LC Blade - (1) Soap - Truefitt & Hill Sandalwood Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip Post - Alum Special shave tonight in honor of the gift from the Yakuza that I received today. A puck of Truefitt & Hill Sandalwood soap and a cologne sample. I've never tried a T&H soap so this is a real treat. Thanks go out to @Bama Samurai our resident Yakuza rep. I chose the Delta Echo New LC to handle this shave with a Voskhod on board. A soap of this caliber deserves one of my best setups and a natural and high end badger brush to go with it. I gave the brush an extra long soak and took my time unwrapping the puck of very hard and amazingly scented soap. It's glycerin based so I made sure to leave the brush wet for the load and it didn't disappoint. Pretty easy to get a lather going with it once I figured out the water ratio. I started just a bit too dry but quickly got it dialed in. I can't say enough about the scent. My wife is as happy with that as I am. Lathered for the first pass and it was an easy face lather to a very nice and cushy lather and SLICK! Didn't even feel the Voskhod on my face on the first pass and couldn't wait to lather up again. Second pass was equally smooth and I wanted to go a third pass just to keep the experience going. Full third pass and the baby showed up with a smile on his face and I just had one of the most relaxing and enjoyable shaves I've had in awhile. Squeezed another handful of lather out of the brush. Interesting consistency. Looks a bit foamy but it doesn't dissipate. Instead, lathering with the brush again brings out that peaky slick lather with ease. I'm going to take care and stretch this soap out over time to really enjoy it. In the words of Mr. Burns........... The Cartel extends its thanks to the Yakuza for a fine gift. I'll lift a glass of vodka your direction tonight as well.
Congrats! That CT sent a shiver up my spine. Holdover from my radio days when a line like that was a land mine if you mispronounced it!!!
Sticking to It! Arko Challenge Edition 16 June 2017 Day 50 of the Arko Challenge. It's looking like the stick will provide 150+ two pass shaves! Not much new to add other than the @jtspartan brush is doing great. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado. Have a superb weekend!
Thanks Jared! We had fun, and I entertained quite a few people with my accent. Yes, those are the Trac II blades I use. Not a lot of fun, but they get the job done. I shave every day on vacation so that I don't deprive my Bride of the best view of my rugged handsomeness.
Thanks Rick. We visited North Wales, and it was absolutely beautiful. We were in Conwy and Caernarfon. The people are very friendly, and the countryside is mountainous and rugged. Welsh is an interesting language, but everyone was quick to shift gears and converse in Kentuckian with us. I do hope you get to make the trip sometime.
Thank you Jared. I use it over the next few days and with good results it will be my razor for a trip to WV later this month. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
"All the world is crazy except for thee and me ... and I'm not so sure about thee either..." Does that quote help clarify things for you?
I never had a chance to post my shave from Thursday as I was just too busy on my trip. I was supposed to head back Thursday afternoon but had to leave yesterday instead. I ended up working both Wednesday and Thursday at the refinery until they literally kicked me out both days (they never seem to kick me out of my refinery), but we did get the substation energized safely. I was too tired to shave yesterday, so it was a no shave day. Here is my Thursday shave which was the 12th shave on the Voskhod.
It is always so good to see them when I get back. I think that is my last trip for a while, so we are all looking forward to that.
