I finally got a chance to use the Dirty Deeds Green Tweed soap courtesy of MAYhem and @Drygulch. I really, really like the scent on it. Between it and my Weck Sextoblade, I took off three days worth of stubble, and the the Aristocrat removed a week's worth of hair on my head. It got the wife's approval, and she took me out to a nice steak dinner. It was time much needed and well spent. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
June 2017!!! Trials and Tribulations June 17 Razor - 1959 (E4)Gillette Fatboy (6) Blade - (2) Soap - Arko Brush - WCS Synthetic Post - Alum Second shave in the trial for the Super-Max Super Platinum. I'm not even going to try and oversell this one. No issues, smooth as glass, near-BBS finish. That says it all. The only thing I'm trying to determine now is whether or not this blade is better or worse than the Platinum. As one who doesn't necessarily believe the hype that "super" is better than the normal (or at least not a significant improvement) but more of a marketing ploy, I want to see if I can choose one over the other. Right now I'd say they're even. The final shave on 9 may make a difference. We'll know tomorrow! One more day at work for me then I'll be off for 7 days on a vacation. Not going anywhere at this point so I'll be free to spend some more time catching up here and getting a few things done around the house. Hope you have a great weekend!
Don't let peer pressure cause forced Cultural Appropriation. Just because the world is becoming a stirred up blend doesn't mean you must like all things available. I'm not a fanatic about cloves (see;Bay Rum) or star anise (licorice) so there's no point in trying products heavy in those scents. It's your shave, enjoy it your way! © @swarden43
What he said. Pick out what works, and use it. It doesn't matter if you used canned goo, bottled goo, tubed goo, hard soap, soft soap, cream, or 'croap' (my fingers just threw up on that word). Want to use an Atra, or Fusion, or even a Lady Venus for your face? Go for it.
Sunday shave: It was about 34 hours between shave so there was a lot of stubble to remove plus it is the sweet spot for shaving. I only get to this big a gap in-between shaves once a week. Today's razor was a Silverloaf western grind kami with a smile . It still has the 'factory' edge which is still wickedly sharp. I have to take my time and make sure hands are dry and use the alum with this razor, if the tang is it wet it is slippery. The smile makes shaving my neck so much easier and it showed in the results, 4 passes and a long lasting dolphin smooth face, just a tickle from the alum prevented this from being epic.... still a most excellent shave. Very cool looking razor. I can see why it would be difficult to grip with wet slippery hands. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nice shave and great photo. I am rather ignorant of many things in shaving. Is the blue thing a blade guard? How does it work? Not use to Kamisori razors and am only familiar with how scales integrated with a SR work. Curious if and how they might be tied on.

Happy Father's Day June 18, 2017 OneBlade Core Feather “Amgios” Simpson CH2 Synthetic Mystic Water Raspberry Lemon Fine Italian Citrus This is the third shave with the Core. I did alter my approach with less pressure and moving the handle more parallel to my face and let the pivot on the razor find the correct angle. I have also found that the Core does not do well with a thick lather. The razor works best with a thinner slicker lather. This is really not much different than some of the artist club razors. Three passes and minimal touch ups ended in my a near perfect BBS. The results mirror the results of my other razors but without any real thought or attention to technique or skill. I will certainly reach for this razor for future road trips. I hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday and Happy Father's Day.
I had hoped to never scratch an earlobe again. Unfortunately, it happened today. I must have been in a hurry. Other than that, it was a wonderful shave.
