Keep at the straight, it will come together for you. If the edge is rough, then getting it touched up may be helpful. Great looking brush and knot, BTW.
It's a lot like other worthwhile activities. It may seem daunting at first, but the only way to do it is to simply do it! I am on open blade shave ~500, and the learning still continues weekly. The changes are much smaller now. In theory you should be alright with any open blade now if you're on your game. Congrats!
Are the CT gods listening to this? I'm proposing "Breaking through the frugal barrier" for Frank! If it's too long then lose the "breaking" part Or just go full on "Breaking Frugal". Thanks, Andrew. I thought so too! I set it a tad deeper than the original Stirling handle, and I like how it performs better too. The blade was new and shave ready and was only used twice before I got it. Pretty sure it's not the blade, it's user error and/or stropping error. Either way the same idiot is responsible, and will be involved in the next several shaves as well. Again, not injuring myself is a win for me each and every shave going forward with the straights.

I had a great two-pass shave today with no irritation. I'll reintroduce the Palmolive in a week or two to see if the irritation returns. I hope your Wednesday was a good one!
June 21, 2017 Razor: F2 Gillette 195 Adjustable (4) Blade: Treet Platinum (3) Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22 Cream: Dove Hydrate+ Post: Alum, Listerine, WH It's odd... Shortly after this morning's shave, I was reading a couple of comments disparaging the Treet Platinum blades. For me, they are working well. But, then again, I also really liked the Rubie Platinum Plus. As they say, YMMV.
Thursday Shave Today is one of my favourite razors, a PRC western grind kamisori. This razor was my first custom on one of my earliest purchases. It just came back from Whipped Dog where Larry put a very sharp edge on it. The edge was very sharp and yet smooth. Four passes and no blood, this razor is my easiest to handle. Alum test gave zero feedback and my face was smooth. Irritation A+ Closeness A Smoothness A Sharpness A+
Still working the straight, still a single pass that has expanded some, I'm enjoying and will get a full shave one day. But man do I love my Schick E3. So another solid shave, no nicks cuts or anything that involves blood. The Stirling Pharoh's Dream whipped up plenty of lather. A splash of the Energy aftershave milk and so meditative stropping with the paddle. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk
That is how I started, little by little I add more passes and partial passes until I could do the full shave.
