Thank you, Andrew! The Two Girls Florida Water is different than the M&L version. The citrus is not quite as sweet, so I would say it is a Bergamot and lavender is much more pronounced to my nose.
Great photo Mark. You're keeping the General so shiny. Thank you Mark. I really enjoyed the soap this morning. I must have gotten it dialed in at last. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thursday June 22 - coffee double black please Schick E2 / Personna (? - one too many anyway) 30DC LE Maple Cashmere Reef Point Espresso Alum and Thayers Witch Hazel Astringent Aftershave Reef Point Espresso is an excellent tallow soap that has a wonderful coffee aroma both in the tub and as lather. The 30DC LE brush did its usual great job of whipping up and then spreading the lather. Unfortunately what promised to be a great shave was rather let down by a very rough blade. My injector felt like I was shaving with a hacksaw this morning. After I finished, I dumped the blade in the blade bank. I wish I had done that before the shave instead of after. I ended up with a two pass DFS / near BBS but with one weeper on my chin and with the alum rub feeling rather hot everywhere. The alcohol in the aftershave burned too. I don't think the soap was at fault -- it felt very slick when I spread it on and also when doing a finger rub test. Hope everyone has a good Thursday.
The Reef Point Espresso soap scent sounds great. As much as I enjoy coffee I am sure I would enjoy a coffee scented soap.
I think I made a mistake this morning. I reached into my box from Maggard yesterday to decide which new soap to try, as they were all new to me. The options were B&M Latha Taiga, B&M Petrichor, B&M Seville and Haslinger Schafmilch. I decided on the Haslinger, as I've heard a lot about it, it had a mild scent and I wanted to try out the Fine American Blend Aftershave so I figured it would pair well. I opened that little puck of soap up, lathered up, started shaving, and for the next ten minutes of face and head shaving, I had serious thoughts of going minimalist with this stuff. And it paired up so well with the Fine American Blend that it could easily be my go-to setting for the foreseeable future. If this had my first soap, it may have been my last. And my aftershave hunt is over. Now I just need the Fine American Blend in a EDT and my grooming accoutrements would be set.
Haslinger is a really good soap. I preferred it over MWF. I've yet to try Fine American Blend but I have enjoyed all the Fine aftershaves I've tried. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I love Fine American Blend! I have the splash and soap. Terrific scent. Haven't tried Haslinger yet but I know your feelings about going minimalist. I could go with Mitchell's Wool Fat and Fine American every day.
Guys, I haven't been posting my shaves the past few days. I'm still on the road. In fact, I've been in Orange Beach, Alabama since Tuesday in the midst of all the TS Cindy rains. It's been pretty wet! It's not raining now but is still very windy. Back to Mobile this afternoon to gather up our little boy from the in-laws and then back to Birmingham tomorrow. Been gone almost three weeks so I'm itching to get back to all my shave goodies. I have been shaving. The past two days I've used Speick cream and splash with the Schick G8. I've used a little of the Arko Cool cream as well before that. I'm trying to finish off that Arko tube. Great shaves from everyone and I'm keeping up with the thread, which is a feat by itself!
Well we shall soon see which definition fits! I'm wondering - if sputtering is the process of using "fast ions", what is the term for using "slow ions"? I also have to question the marketing department at Topaz blades. Using a technical term to try and enhance the value of the product doesn't exactly bring the customers in droves. Metallurgists or scientists may be impressed, but the rest of us turn to Wikipedia and make stupid slow ion jokes.
Razor: Portland Razor Co Chimera Strop: Drygulch 45 Brush Handle: 30DC LE Knot: APShaveCo Cashmere Soap: B&M Roam Post Care: Thayers Witch Hazel Alum Osage Rub Aftershave: Chatillon Lux La Quatrieme Ville Wonderful shave this morning. I love the scent of Roam and this AS compliments it nicely. Three passes this morning, mostly BBS but a few slightly missed areas so we'll call it a DFS. It was a nice day to start the morning. Have a great day folks!
One soap and one Aftershave? Heresy I say (our expression of the day?)! Glad you had a great find, Chris!
