Tonight's shave was with an old Rat Razor, that shaves like it was a NOS razor. I had a very smooth 2 pass shave, that left me BDBS. Zero nicks, cuts, or weepers. Very well built razor. Razor- J.A.Henckels 472, Zwillingswerk. The Inlays in the scales are Silver. Brush- B400 By Tom. My favorite brush. Soap- MWF. Nuff Said. Aftershave- Arctic Blue
No denying the razor has gorgeous lines, but I estimate I've had several dozen shaves with this KingPel and everyone has been superb: comfortable, extremely efficient and I find the overall design/shape of the blade to be so easy-to-use. Not something I can say about every western-style kamisori.

Japanese steel evidently likes Arkansas stones. Touched up the edge and gave it the Arkie treatment. Sharp, sharp, sharp. Two passes is all she took.
My experience with honing Japanese Straights on Surgical Black Arkansas mirrors your results . Provides a very keen edge but not harsh .I usually use a J-Nat before going to the Dan's SB.
It was on sale and in stock so I could not resist. It was on sale for father's day and even though I am not a father I reasoned I have a father so I bought it. 7/8 full hollow with acid etching. Came with a fantastic edge. I have been wanting to try a Brian Brown and I am glad I found it in stock.
