I cannot remember who was looking for a Schick G1 a week or so ago. I have one for them if they are still looking. It is pristine still has the blank blade. There was a crack in the handle that I Epoxied. Let me know please. I think they were asking @wchnu for one. Tom Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Yes I had my handle break on me yesterday evening. With a little bit of super glue and a hose clamp though I am recovering. Thank you of thinking of me guys. You will never know what that means to me. Sent from my phone using some app
So after supergluing the G1 I decided to clean the my injectors. While I was polishing the G8 the spring moved. I thought the G Types had the spring stationary. The patent numbers are consistent with a type G Series. Here are some photos. View attachment 139209 Sent from my phone using some app
My pleasure. Always looking to spread injector and SE addictions. The SE pusher Tom Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Put a fork in it. Those springs were not meant to be moved. That's why there was a tab in the center - to keep it in place. Once it's been moved it loses the proper tension and won't hold a blade tight. I have managed a pretty close to "good as new" fix by basically torquing the spring into the head with a needle nose pliers but even doing that it's likely to still be less than ideal.
Nothing wrong with those blades at all!!! Hooked up a long collar ER 24 tonight with VDH select. The big ole boar knocked the lather outta tha park!!!
Looks like the tab bent. I am not sure its dead. Push it back and bend the tab back up. If that makes sense.
Just as a heads up. After I finish a G1 pif across the street there will likely be a G8 PIF here......
Your welcome!! Glad to share with a guy that does as much as you do around here...and heck your a TOSTer too.
So your saying I have now lost two injectors? I really didn't want to hear that. But if that is what it is, that is what it is. Thanks Karl. Sent from my phone using some app
I had a total of four injectors. Three G1 and a G8. My frist G1 I gave to my oldest son. I fixed number 2, I think. While trying to fix #3 the handle just crumbled apart. Then #4, the G8, may or may not be dead as well. I may have to give up on injectors with the luck I'm having. Sent from my phone using some app
Bite your tongue! Don't even think of giving up on these wonderful shavers.... Tom had one looking for a new home wchnu is piffing one across the street at TOST...and will probably be piffin one ovah heeyah next... Nah....just look around...the signs all say, this is a great time to be into Injector Shaving... I would try the G8 fix that wchnu offered.....Put the spring back and bend that tab back down...Then change blades...the injector key going in should be very tight...You know how they feel...If there is no looseness, and the blade is tight maybe you dodged the bullet... But don't leave it the way it is in that pic...The G8 should not open like an E2....
