Have you tried her Bourbon Jungle? I found it to be the most strongly scented soap of hers I tried, and it is fantastic stuff. I did find the full puck more strongly scented than the sample. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
I liked the scent, but it still wasn't strong enough for me. The cranberry is though. I'm saving it to go 1 on 1 with the mystic water cranberry, to see which wins. Based on an initial sniff, they are both outstanding scents. As always, opinions & feedback by all is welcome!
Thank you, Jason. This is the only TTO I have seen do it. I like the razor, and cam deal with it, but the it is a bit if an annoyance.
June 28 - a Fine Shave Merkur 34C Voskhod (day 2) French Vanilla (JR#72) brush DIY PSO Fine Accoutrements Platinum Soap Alum/Thayers/Stirling Executive Man Post Shave Balm Having done Tabac and Stirling Executive Man recently, this was a perfect time to try Fine Platinum. Unfortunately, this is also the last new item from Pasteur's. Since this is a milled product and I ran out of containers, I decided to use my demitasse spoon and scrape off about a spoons worth and press that into my SS bowl. wet the brush and shook it out and applied about 1 teaspoon of water to the waiting soap. The Fr. Vanilla brush is one of my stiffer brushes and took a good 20 seconds to break up the shavings into a lather. I did add 3 sets of dribbles to get a nice lather. Personally, I think the Tabac gave a thicker lather and Stirling gives a thicker one still but I think this is due to unfamiliarity with Fine soaps. The Fine scent was pineapple and and what not but leaned more to an alcohol cologne like scent where as Stirling EM has stronger and fresher scents. In EM, I can smell a very fresh pineapple and pear scent. It might be slightly sweeter than the Fine as well. I also found Stirling to be slicker but again this could be due to dialing in the soap. 3 passes with a Voskhod yielded a BBS shave. Unfortunately, the alum burned and I had a hard time applying it. I know I was focusing on a light touch and had the 34C handle at about a 70 degree angle which suggests I was riding the cap. Evidently, I was not as good in technique as I had hoped. At the same token, Voskhods can cause me issues which is why I like the sharpness but only have it as an honorable mention in preferred blades.Since I cannot afford Aventus, I finished with a sprits of Armaf Club de Nuit Intense cologne. I do feel Fine Platinum pairs very well with Intense, maybe even better than Stirling EM. I will say that I prefer Stirling EM to Fine Platinum but I still find Fine to be a fine soap! I am sure it will climb my charts once I dial it in better. Have a great day everyone.
New Soap? I have heard of Margaritas in the Arctic but not Margaritas in the Mist? Is it your own combo or did Rod give you a custom?
I was inspired to use my Route 66 Bourbon Jungle today. That stuff never disappoints. It's such a great smell and such a great soap. IF it ever runs out, it is one I will for sure replace. The Feather AS Kamisori provided a close, smooth, blood free shave, and I'm on an English Leather kick so I splashed some on with some Mr. Blass. I also managed to secure some Rive Gauche today, so I'll be pairing it up with Fine American Blend tomorrow.
