  1. Frank does RR use the same maker for all their soaps? I was under the impression that they used various makers for different soaps.
  2. I'd like to know as well, as it appears that RazoRock and Italian Barber are the same company. I know when they show the various black tubs opened, they all show the same fill pattern (that I've seen. I haven't spent hours perusing all of the soaps).
  3. At one time they did use different artisans for different soaps. Not sure if it changed.

Enjoy your time at Mar-a-Lago, Randy!
  5. Today was the maiden voyage of the Schick Krona I found yesterday. It cleaned up quite nicely. This isn't the sexiest razor around, but man does it do its job. Gave it a Feather and it gave me a really smooth, irritation-free two-pass shave. I am happy I picked it up. Barrister and Mann Seville, Fine American Blend and Rive Gauche are a nice trifecta, though the scent of Rive Gauche doesn't seem to hang around on my skin, which is too bad because I really like it. It compliments the American Blend really well.

  6. Nice I just picked up some Fine American blend and B&M Seville as well planning on pairing them together next week.

  7. That is what I heard but I have no knowledge of who are their current suppliers and if they have different suppliers for different soaps. For me, so far, things have been fine.
  8. I think TFS is their main supplier for all of their black tub soaps. I think SMDF and The Dead Sea are the two exceptions.

    Blade: Chinese Schick
    Razor: Schick M adjustable injector
    Brush: Surrey badger
    Lather: Fine Lavender
Post: Witch hazel, Fine Lavender aftershave
    WTG, touch up

Top notch shave this morning. The Schick Adjustable is a great razor. I was on setting 7 for the whole shave. Two days of growth were mowed down through terrific lather from the Fine soap. The Fine soaps match the scents of the aftershave exactly and the quality is terrific. Overall a very nice shave!

    Have a great day!

  10. That makes sense. When I started 3 years it seemed they had more makers and it was impossible to figure out if the soap would be the same except for the scent.

  11. Andrew,
Do you know if any of the IB or RR soaps are just rebranded TFS soaps, or are they specific formulations? In other words, is the TFS Mastro Miche I used this morning, for example, available as an IB or RR soap with just a different name? Just curious, I don't have any IB or RR soaps to make the comparison myself.
  12. I've been at the beach this week, and decided to bring my pill bottle samples of the Route 66 soaps from the soap passaround. These soaps receive a lot love on these boards, and I can see why. They give good performance, and all the scents I sampled were enjoyable. The cranberry citrus and the bourbon jungle were favorites. Unfortunately for me, I have trouble smelling scents unless they are really strong, so I now reserve most of my purchases for those stronger smelling soaps like Stirling, Caties Bubbles, etc. If you like scents that are a little more subtle, you'll probably really enjoy Route 66. I just prefer scents that punch you in the face. (In fairness, the small sample size may have caused me to not use enough product to get as much scent as you would get loading from the tub too.)
  13. I'm not nouveau riche enough for Mar-a-Lago, Charlie. I get along better with the old Florida Crackers than the seasonal resident social climbing crowd.
  14. Loving this feather blade in the Gillette Flair Tip. This morning I went with the Arko after going and reading some of @Bama Samurai's "Arko Challenge" last night. I goofed up the first pass with not enough water and the overly thick Arko lather started to plug up my razor. I had to pull the blade out and wipe it with my thumb under the facet to get the soap and hair off the blade. I corrected the mistake for the second pass with a little more water in the brush and got a nice, easy second half. I might have found my daily driver combo. Just wish I had enough time for a third pass for super smooth.

I swear my hair is growing faster now that I've been shaving for almost 2 months. My face is feeling rough by the afternoon everyday now.

    Happy shaving everyone!
  15. Did the Avon 4 Men Maxwell 23 Tribute A.S. today. Humidity is slowly returning, so I picked the wrong day. I suppose what I mean is, it felt nice upon application this morning, but as the day wore on it was gradually less comfortable. It'll be nice to have that around during NB18, which we all know will be a great success for me.

  17. You're nailing the outdoor photos. How is the Cashmere knot working for you?

  18. Thanks Clint. The Cashmere knot is working out very well. I don't believe it would have enough backbone for face lathering, but it is great for bowl lathering. Could be wrong as I don't face lather.
  19. The knot looks great and would be a prefect match restoring vintage brushes.
