I bet dimes to doughnuts you ran the edge across the blade stops. That wrecked the blade, causing the blood letting. Load a new blade and watch to make sure the blade is not dragging across the stops. What blades are you using? That too may be an issue. Do not give up on that razor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tomorrow's SOTD as I am already starting to spot. It will be done very very carefully so as to leave what is left of my face in tact. Shave Secret Gem 1912 Proraso Green Made Rite 500 Pure Badger Witch Hazel Nivea Sensitive Balm Old Spice
July 29, 2017 Schick golden 500, this was a Virgin and I ejected the blank blade yesterday... today was its second shave using a 1974 plus platinum. wow , surgically sharp, yesterday I was careless and roughed my jaw line up, lesson learned...today was slow and steady with zero pressure, and wow what a sharp blade.... i figure the next few shaves i will hit the sweet spot. schick really made amazing blades in the mid 1970s
I don't know Tom. I've banished it to a dark place. No really I did. I do it to save the blade from rusting. I might have drugged it across but I owned one before so I was careful about loading. Did I mention that I dropped it in the shower? That might have done it but I don't know. Maybe next week after my face heals up, I will pull it out and look it over. Maybe and I am only saying maybe, I'll give it another run. I was thinking what to do with the other blades that I have left over anyway.
Do not give up on injectors. You may have damaged it when you dropped it. Load another blade and give it a whirl in a few weeks. Remember NO PRESSURE while using it. Let us know how it goes. We can help you find the right injector for you. Tom
Tonights shave. My new to me OC Dammy Went full old school tonight. Williams worked great with my JR192. The guy I bought the Dammy from included a tuck of Treet Carbon blades. Old Spice to finish a fantastic shave. Tom
I don't know if I will use it again as it's something that I hold dear to me. However I do have all those blades to use. I had a Hydro-matic. It's been so long ago I can't remember if I like it or not. I know I didn't think that much about it. Different times back then. I only shaved because I had to and didn't have a choice. It was a chore I had to do and I did not look forward to doing it. Now it's a hobby... I'm trying to get my mind around that. I know my wallet knows. I just bought another razor and four more handles. OMG I caught that darn bug that seems to be going around here.
I still have a little left from twenty years ago. That's it in the pictures. When it's gone I will truly be sad. I went to get some the other day and it's not the same
Yes. I am on the lookout all the time. I found 2 powders, cologne, balm and AS at an estate sale. All for $10 and all full. Agreed the new is not the same. Tom Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
I offered up a NOS G1 earlier this week to somebody. They fixed their problem. If you want to try a G1 again shoot me a PM and it is yours. Tom Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
Evening Capt. If you got beat up by a G1 something is wrong with the razor or blade. You really have to work at it for one of them to bite. Is the blade seated behind the stops on both sides? In the pic there one looks off. Might just be the angle. Edit...i did not see the convo with Tom before. I would still check the blade stops. @twhite that is a beautiful G1.

Hey Tom....this is a beautiful pictorial...a real classic. I am going to put a link to this article on my home page to make it easy to find in the future... This is worthy of a sticky, if we did those here...But it is a classic....I need to put together a table of contents for the most helpful "How To" articles with links... You know if I wasn't so lazy, I probably would have already done that and I could have just added this...

Definitely reload with a new blade and see what happens. No need to continue if it doesn't do the trick.
