2 July 2017 Blade Focus Shave Pre: Copious amounts of hot water, some soap from the puck and a hot towel Razor: 1966 Schick Krona Blade: Gillette 7 o'clock Green Brush: Omega 10098 Soap: Col. Conk's Bay Rum Post: Hot/Cold water rinse, alum block, cold towelx2, Dominello Vitali Calming Post Shave Moisturizer After Shave: Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum. What else? Posting late 'cause it was a busy day here at stately RetLEO-07 manor. Slept in. Shave at 0700, out to the fleamarket by 08, back by 1130. Then it was off to the grocery store, then it was time to trim the Forsythia. Supper, more trimming. Finally at 1930 I said no mas. After a quick shower it was time to work on my newest acquisition, a 1911 Old. It cleaned up nice(see my thread in the "General"). Now on to the shave. Felt like Bay Rum, and Col. Conk's fit the bill. The big Omega took a short time make a great lather, that the Krona/7 o'clock Green took care of with alacrity. Splashed on some VIBR and headed out the door looking and smelling sharp. Now headed for the goosehair. See you gents on the morrow.
No, as I said, I managed to keep the soda off of the shaving stuff (Keep the rug moist, maybe?) Maybe it's just that I'm focusing more on the brush because the shave is a no-brainer, but I've been using one soap for a minimum of 4-5 shaves before trying another, and for the last... 30? shaves I've been pretty much on the VDH (to get rid of it). Once I get rid of that, I'm going to use the Arko once or twice, then change out blades and try the Wilkinson Sword blue bowl for a few weeks.
Where's my Waits? Ah- here... Let's see... Frame: rear hinge ✔️ Guard fixed, pierced STAR ✔️ y-tooth comb ✔️ Blade adjustment: spring clip only ✔️ Handle: various - definitely various ✔️ Highest Paris 1900 Award logo ✔️ Highest Pan American 1901 Award logo ✔️ Patents match... ✔️ Looks like another 1902 model HR-14B
I really like the lower loft. It has good backbone and very soft tips. Sent from my STV100-3 using Tapatalk
I'd recommend getting sample sizes. Maggards has them. I kinda like the Ghost Town Barber. The Chiseled Face Midnight Stag....well, I want to like it...but.... My wife feels the same way. She kept sniffing it and saying "I feel like I should like it.". As far as the soap itself, it lathers nicely and provides good cushioning.
Yep, the Chai Pani in Asheville is quite good. The hardest part when visiting Asheville is deciding where to eat - and it's tough to go wrong - unless, of course, you opt for chain restaurants. That would be a crime!

Was interested in your Clubman statement about Barbershop "vibe". Were you comparing C-Man to the GTB?
