Thursday's Shave Nivea Men Face Wash Jeeves of Hudson Street Shaving Soap Jayaruh #199 GEM Micromatic Bullet Tip GEM Reversible SE CWR Thayer's Lemon WH Lucky Tiger Well, today, I tried out a GEM Reversible blade for the first time. @jimjo1031 sent me three to try out. The first one I opened looked good, so I was determined to give it a try. I got out my GEM Micromatic Bullet Tip for this shave. It is my birth era razor, introduced in 1947, my birth year. The Jeeves of Hudson Street Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #199 synthetic brush. I did the two passes with the GEM Micromatic Bullet Tip razor and GEM Reversible SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. It was smooth with no issues. I washed the blade and belly stropped it before putting it back in the razor for tomorrow's adventure in Reversible blade shaving. After a cold water rinse and alum block, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Lucky Tiger AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
In the very pleasant river port town of Kampot, Cambodia for three days, just brought the SABI/Mastiff. One shim and Permasharp blade, wonderful lather then oil two pass + shave. Since I'm only doing four total passes with the soap, a benefit of this mixed soap/oil approach is it's easy to fix the lather up for both the beard and head at the same time. SOTD - 5 July 2017 Cinco de Julio Jedi Mind Games Edition Handheld GEM SE Blade (pass one) Parker SRX/Shark SS (pass two) Have a great evening!
I really like this little Erskine Vintage brush. I found it NIB and the imported Badger is soft, makes great lather and releases perfectly.
