Wow just a few days late and already 47 pages. I've been working 58 hour weeks for the last two weeks so I have entered been doing much besides melting metel together and sleeping. I started cleaning out a house on my weekly day off and found some new toys that I posted about in a different thread so when I get those cleaned up I will at least try them out. For now I'll continue to beard up. If helps guard my face from weld Sparks.

Please do share the photos! I know we have a number of Face Latherers around. For those of us that enjoy using a bowl seeing the wood working in progress and the finished project is entertaining. Judging from the early responses there's enough interest to make several of Jason's @jtspartan bowls sell outright. A fund raising raffle sounds good too!

Hmm. Get some stainless steel ball bearings, and epoxy them into drilled holes. Since the tip of the drill is slightly rounded, they should drop in quite nicely to the full circumference. Then you'll have shiny 'dots' rather than wooden thrusts that can be worn and absorb water.

Nice idea, thanks. I do like the idea of keeping it all wood, though. Some good Marine Urethane and I'm not that worried about using the bowl for lathering. Wouldn't use it to soak brushes long-term, anyway.

Good idea. I would imagine that the wood will expand and contract which may cause the bearings to loosen. Worth a try though.

I just apply mineral oil after a week of use. Seems to help. I've heard the Walnut oil works well also.

How do you adjust the cap and keep the blade secure??

It stays tight enough to hold the blade you do not have to loosen the cap much at all.
