  2. Welcome back Amgio. Great looking lineup. :happy088:
  3. Compared to most of what I've been working with, they're even with Dorco and Derby for usability. I can use them, but the level of ease and results is very different. I know someone who is doing great with them, so I'm offloading mine to him, now that I have some reliable alternatives.

  5. Without making a separate project of it where do you stand on The Grand Blade Trials? Seems like there was a list of hundreds of manufactures with multiple offerings from each.
  6. July 13th
Gillette NEW LC w Astra SP (1)
    TGN Synthetic/Mahogany Handle
    Stirling Bay Rum SS
    Thayers
Chatillon Lux Gratiot League Sq. AS

Day 8 of the NEW LC focus, first day with an Astra. Hadn't used the Bay Rum in forever, and whipped up a nice lather. 3 passes later, with again focussing on the skin stretching advice of Clint and Chris, am near BBS. Passed on any touch ups as well.
I find Astras excellent in every razor. For the past several months, my focusses (save for my month long injector focus...) have been to run multiple blades through various razors. I'm feeling like I get quality shaves with whatever I put in any of these razors now (save for my dulled injector blades...). I think I'll have to change up my focusses, as my rotation of blades works in everything. I do have a few non-Gillette 3 piece razors coming in, as well as some blades I've never tried.
Anyway, finished with the Gratiot League Sq which pairs nicely with the Bay Rum.
    Have a great day, all!

  9. Fantastic pic, Rick!
  10. Glad you are doing well Adam. Between the alternatives not or too busy, too gets things done.
I shared the joys of Monty Python with my children as they grew up. When it was time to get out of bed sometimes I'd hear them say," I feel happy!". Sarcastic little buggers, but I love em.
  11. Not even Lord of the Rings?
  12. Excellent picture and setup amigo. Welcome home. :happy088:
  13. Thank you Jason! Most times I drape a towel over the background. Just left it nekkid last night. The obscured textured glass cutting boards, one propped up in a black cast iron recipe book stand, are my best most consistent light source for SOTD photos. I used to fret and fiddle with a 2001 vintage photo manipulating program. Now I snap a couple shots and use Snapseed app on my phone . Quick and easy. Not the same quality of my early SOTD's. Although the gear hasn't really changed much I've learned a little.
  14. I found the ending of LotR to be anticlimactic. The Hobbit had a better ending. LotR always struck me as a "Whoever is out last, turn off the light" cop out. "Since we defeated the big bad guy, there's no longer any room for magical stuff, so we're leaving."
  15. I'd agree with you, perhaps, in the more typical Hollywood 'everything is good in the world now' ending of the Movie, but I'm not so sure about it fitting in the 'Scouring of the Shire' ending of the Books- more of a 'just because you destroyed the ring, don't think there is no evil left, and we'll destroy the Shire to prove it' kind of vibe.
  16. would that be like saying "5.2% marriages fail(that is 5% marriages, plus .2% of a marriage)?
  17. I still haven't had the.....er....pleasure..of doing that. I'd love to someday.
  18. Isn't that the truth...

  20. My formative years were spent mostly in the Chicago 'Burbs. When I grew up enough to make my choices I moved South so I wouldn't have to do ice, except in my sweet tea. I'd rather sweat than shiver.
