I read an old letter from my now-deceased grandfather that was written to my Mom who had given birth to me not long before he wrote. He was quite excited and happy to come meet the little kid who would be his grandson til death did him part.
It took me a minute to figure out how and where you were shaving with Jesus, before I realized you were talking about the blade. Strange mental picture. Love the smell of tiamat. Really unique and interesting. I'll have to try the dapper dragon in a tub before coming to a conclusion about performance, as the "soap dollop in a bowl" lathering technique isn't always a great way for me to gauge lather and performance of any soap. Are you "hall shaving" again, Paul? I can hear the jokes beginning again already. I'd rather be busy than bored anyday. Just know the place isn't the same without you (or at least your hijinx). Shave on gentlemen!
I knew the hall issue would come up Baylor, so let me inform you that my hall lights were out, too. Better a tinted bathroom than nothing in the hall. Thank goodness the Electric Light Orchestra came in decent enough time ))).
I'm not sure if this photo is historically accurate, since that dude looks a lot more like Mel Gibson in braveheart than like Jesus (assuming, of course, that any of us actually know what Jesus looks like).
This morning saw another shave from the New. Uneventful, so it's probably time to move on to the next untried razor. I sampled the B&M Adagio again, but still can't decide if I like it enough to buy it before it is gone. I'm stuck at a solid "maybe". The Semogue brush is getting broken in, and the Stirling Grapefruit AS was awesome! I wish they offered that in a soap without menthol. I would be all over it! As it is, I'll just have to get the AS.
I will. Thank you! Thanks for sharing. I am writing a letter to my Grandson that I will package with a newspaper from the day he was born. I plan on giving it to him on his 18th birthday. I also have a straight razor earmarked for him. Thanks. It's off to a great start
Razor: Mongoose B2 w/Custom Stainless Steel Handle from England Blade: Feather (5) Brush: El Druida Red Heart Chakte Kok/African Blackwood 2 Band Badger Soap: Timeless Signature Bay Rum A/S: Floid Vigoroso Bowl: Boise Mudworks Blue The heavier stainless steel handle off sets the weight of the head very nicely. The handle weights in at 95.1 grams. I got a very comfortable near BBS shave today with these tools. The Floid Vigoroso is an excellent aftershave.
Ah, but what if I'm Jewish, or Muslim. Yeah, I know how it sounds. "I shall fear no blade, for I lather firmly, and YHVH steadies my hand."
One of the best comments I ran across was that he would look like a Pakastani cab driver in New York. Probably a cross between a Sephardic Jew and an Arab - or one of the _old_ families still in that area of the world. Definitely NOT the "blue eyed white man" that showed up a lot in Renaissance and after artwork.
Sounds about right to me. As for your religion, I'm pretty sure if Jesus was shaving with someone it'd be pretty likely for him to be doing so with a Jew or Muslim so I didn't see that as an issue. I was more surprised that he was in Texas and shaving this morning... until I realized he was a blade.
Two shave report, Thursday night I need an evening shave for a social engangement so I decided to give the One Blade Core a go. This was my second shave with this razor and it is very mild. I had a hard time finding and keeping the angle that would cut my beard. The second shave was better but still frustrating because it is so hard to get a close shave. Today was the 20th consecutive shave with my 2011 R41. The Perma-Sharp blades were for me a total waste of money. Terribly rough blade that goes dull quickly. I will not be buying these again. I was also disappointed in the lack of slickness and protection the AOS Rose Absolute Cream offered. This soap bears little resemblance to the vaunted AOS Tallow soaps in my den. The side/corner blade exposure in the R41 is probably the most annoying aspect of this razor; and since the human face has curves and angles, maneuvering becomes a quasi-minefield: you never know when it'll bite. I now understand why Mühle redesigned this razor. The 2013 R41 is, IMO, a much better design.
I need to do an update on the list. I had 147 blades on the list when I started but have added as many as I've trialed, or so it feels. I still have over 100 blades to go. Not counting the Dollar Store Dorcos that are being added to the list. The fun never stops!
