Glad you folks found the review useful. I know I said I would do a Haslinger review, but have not gotten the Haslinger yet. If anyone is looking for another great soap, Sego Lily is the bee's knees. There is a review of it at http://theshaveden.com/forums/threads/sego-lily-hinoki-wood-shaving-soap-review.52219/. I will post more reviews when I get the chance, but will be super busy the next few months.
Looking forward to the Haslinger review when it comes. In the meantime I guess I'll just have to soldier on using MWF.
Second shave today with the Fat. GAWD, I love this soap! Lathers like crazy, slick and the after face feel is amazing! I may go with the following daily-daily when my blade auditions are over: 1911 OLD with whatever blade, Omega 10098 and whatever A/S strikes my fancy.
I used the Fat today, for the first time in nearly a year. A little water woke it up and the lather came easily. Excellent soap even in a time of excellent artisans.
The Fat is the original that all the other soaps want to be. For me it lathers easily, in hard water I need to load more off the puck to get a better lather. I wouldn't give up my soft water for anything. Clayton Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Tapatalk
Fantastic review!! We've been blessed as wet shavers in the last couple of years with just Dynamite artist soaps that I think outperform MWF. I do still use my MWF a couple of times a month.
There is a reason i made my name the fat! I used it last night. Its so slick i have trouble holding my razor. Im down to like 10 percent left.
Hahahaha NO! kerry is a great guy! If mitchells made like 10 scents id probably get rid of all my other soaps.
To be fair MWF has remained basically unchanged for years and it's still hard to outperform. It's a classic. Clayton
I used the Fat today. Love it. I notice that alcohol-based aftershave splashes don't burn as much with the Fat. Must mean less irritation.
What I normally do when I used MWF after my shave, please trust me and try this method because you will love MWF a lot more when it comes to extra post shave feel. 1. After you've finished shaving with MWF when you rinse off with cold water then you apply Witch Hazel after you've rinse off, let the Witch Hazel dry for a few minutes on your face before you apply MWF again. 2. Grab your brush and make sure you've got enough MWF lather left over, gently apply some MWF to your face as a moisturising cream this will give you extra post shave feel for your skin and your face will look soft and smooth as a throughout the whole day.
Yep just rub it on like a lotion just make sure you add a nice amount of MWF to your face, and gently rub it on like a lotion that way your face will feel great soft and smooth straight after applying Witch Hazel when it dries down.
I can understand how the lanolin gives your face a great post-shave feel, but I would be reticent about leaving the soap on one's face. YMMV, clearly.
Cool idea - I hadn't thought of that. Chatillon Lux toners have lanolin I think, so that might give a similar sensation. Myrsol Emulsion would, too. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
With Nuavia I rub the lather from my brush on my face and leave it on while I clean up the brush and razor. I then rinse it off and follow up with witch hazel.
