Well the blocks are laminated in a diagonal direction. I thought it looked cool. I have one more block to get a handle out of. After that there will be no more laminated wood blocks on papas lathe. Those were his exact words. lol

Must be something in the water. Rivers have been above flood stage, yards squishy, high humidity...
Larry's @LKLive13 work is another spur in my BFD (Brush Fabrication Disorder). With Jason @jtspartan, Tom @twhite, Jim @Jayaruh, and Jack @Sparrow all crafting these handles - I've got the bug to make something happen.
I'd like to switch from a spectator/user to the artisan/craftsman team.

Finally finished up the swirl brush and gave it a 20mm black synthetic knot I had from an earlier project and I think it's perfect!

Your grandpa has a good eye for shapes. That one should fit the hand well.

Do you know what types of wood? Was there a plan or freehanded?

The brushes are all free hand turned with us just thinking about what would look good. My grandfather has a real nack for wood work. I think it's cedar and oak but I'm not 100% sure, the multi colored handles are the two I made from some laminated blocks I found. Just got the knots for my first and third ones I created today. I think the solid wood one the left is my first attempt at turning. Here they are. I think this is a great hobby and an awesome way to spend time with a man whom I admire and learn a lot of life lessons from!
