    SOTD July 17, 2017

    Blade: Chinese Schick
    Razor: Schick E2 injector
    Brush: Surrey badger
    Lather: Stirling Grapefruit with menthol
Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Grapefruit aftershave
    WTG, touch-up

Nice run with the E2 injector this morning. It's a little more aggressive than the G series, in my opinion, but quite efficient. Smooth and comfortable as usual. Great lather from Stirling. All came together quite well.

    Have a great day!

A very good shave this morning. The Reef Point Tranquility is very easy to whip into a rich slick lather. The peppermint oil adds a pleasing cooling sensation to the morning shave routine. This soap has made my "buy again" list. With such a nice lather, I couldn't help myself and went with a traditional 3 pass shave. Skin stretching as I went minimized the amount of touch ups and left my neck bordering on BBS. I am pleased with the improvement with that trouble spot. I finished off with a splash of Fine Lavender. I hope everyone has a great Monday.

    Razorock Plissoft Brush
    Stirling Frozen Tundra
    Gillette Red Tip
    Rapira PL (16)
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    Arctique AS

Shave 16 on this blade, and it is still going. I did two passes with DFS results. I went for a chill this morning with the Frozen Tundra and Arctique combination, and it was definitely chilly. The Arctique is the coldest AS I have, and it felt good in a warm morning in SE Texas. I hope everyone has a great day!

  7. Great filter effect. You're racking up the shaves on the blade. :eatdrink047:
  8. Thank you, Clint! I think 20 is a real possibility.

17 July 2017 Menthol Monday OLD Blade Focus Shave

Pre: A ton of hot water, some lather from the bowl and a hot towel
    Razor: 1911 Gillette OLD
    Blade: Shark Super Chrome
    Brush: Omega 6212 Silvertip
Cream: C O Bigelow Premium Shaving Cream
Post: Hot/Cold water rinse, alum block, cold towelx2, Dominello Vitali Calming Post Shave Moisturizer
After Shave: Proraso Green Lozione Dopobarba

Good morning my fellow Denizens. As today is Menthol Monday I went with a Classic, C O Bigelow. I have been neglecting my creams and my Silvertip brush lately as I have been incorporating soaps into my arsenal. So I put a dollop in my Lenox shaving bowl and whipped up a great lathering that as usual for Bigelow was slick and smelled great.
First real workweek shave. The OLD/Shark duo sliced through the stubble without a care. 2.5 passes with some J hooking on my lower neck and a BBS shave started off the work week in fine fashion. Before you other FNG's get too excited, that BBS lasts until about 1400 when "the little tiny hairs start growing out my face !"
Splashed on some Proraso Green A/S and we're off and running.
    See ya!!

  11. as we work our way through July, I may decide to add an A.S. to my summer arsenal-one that I had many years ago and found to be pleasant and calming-Nivea Cooling Cream(or whatever it's called).

  12. July 17, 2017- Injector Focus

    Razor: Schick E2 Injector
    Blade: Chick (1)
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22
    Cream: KMF fragrance-free
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

Let me start by saying that I stand corrected. As much as I like the feel of the E2 with a Personna blade, it is much smoother with a Chinese Schick. A very easy path to an issue-free BBS.

  14. I would say that it has a fresh, clean scent. It's sort of hard to describe, but it has an almost medicinal, plant like smell. The scent doesn't linger for very long which is a plus for me when I shave at night. My wife thinks it smells really good, if that helps. It feels very good on the face. It has a very slight tingle/cooling sensation, and leaves the face feeling smooth and moisturized.

  15. Today I focussed on not only getting a great shave, but enjoying it as well...

You might notice something is missing from this set up. Oh well. I didn't get into this hobby to play Russian Roulette with my daily shave, or my precious skin either. :D

  18. An Epic Shootout... or Not.
So today I planned on a epic showdown between my flare tip and my red tip, to see who would reign supreme. I had planned this battle a couple days ago, when I got sidetracked learning the straight razor, but Monday was to be the day for the epic shootout. Even got the shot taken with the Ghost Town Barber soap and started playing that Cowboy shootout music in my head... you know, the one they always play leading up the the shootout while they're showing guys walk towards each other with hands ready to draw.
    IMG_1810.JPG
So, waking up with a sinus infection brewing, I ended up making a last minute change of the soap to Stirling Iced Pineapple to see if the menthol could clear my sinuses out a bit, but I still played the cowboy music in my head for effect. Anyway, I conducted a three pass shave switching the same blade between the two razors and shaved the right side of my face with the red tip and the left with the flare tip. Which razor would be left standing?!? Who would survive!?!

Yeah, now for the really anticlimactic ending... I got a great shave from both. Virtually no difference. My automatic adjusting on the fly compensated for any differences in the shave produced by each razor, and yielded virtually identical results on both sides of my face. No blood in the streets. No new sheriff in town, just a smooth clean shave on both sides. I guess it's on to a new razor tomorrow.
  19. I did a challenge in another forum last week of using 5 razors 5 soaps 5 blades and 5 brushes. Essentially a different set up every day for a week to test my technique. What I found was all of the changes made very little difference in my shave. Each one was a quality product so they worked well and like you I adjusted accordingly to different angles etc. The only razor still giving me a little trouble is the PAA Bakelite Slant. As the saying goes technique Trumps tools every time.
