SOTN July 18th Gem Damaskene Gem Stainless 30DCLE Catie's Bubbles '95 Liquid Labels Witch Hazel enhanced with Tommy EdT Two firsts last night. First time using a Gem Damaskene and first time using Catie's Bubbles. First off for the Damaskene, I found it rather difficult maintaining the correct angle with the curved head. I kept wanting to pull the cap off the skin a little and this proved to be too much angle and created some irritation in a few places. I may have to try shimming the blade. Catie's Bubbles was fantastic though. I was able to create a super smooth, creamy, shiny lather in no time. The big 26mm knot in my 30DCLE brush really holds a lot of lather and a 20 second load gave me enough lather for at least 10 passes. I finished with a splash of witch hazel that I enhanced with a spray of Tommy EdT. Have a great day my friends!

MONDAY'S SHAVE Soap Smooth Punpkin for this shave, hard to tell a difference between the vegan and tallow formulas. They are both great performers. Have been loading a bit more than usual and have been rewarded with a richer lather and have been loving the results. Have been on a punkin kick latley and this soap is just perfect and not too heavy on the spice, and thankfully there has been no irritation as a result. TUESDAY'S SHAVE Man this Ballenclaugh Woodsman is one of my favorite artisans, the Swedish pine tar makes the lather soothing, can almost smell some citrus notes as well. Just an awesome soap that is a pleasure to use. Paired well with the Proraso Wood & Spice which smells great and is a nice addition to the Proraso line. WEDNESDAY'S SHAVE Prep: Occams Crushed Lime Razor: Maggard Slant Blade: Ladas Brush: Razorock Plissoft Soap: Steambath Factory Bloodbath Post: Thayer's Pech WH, Soap Commander Endurance balm Nice smooth shave this afternoon, the Bloodbath whipped up a nice mountain of creamy lather, and the scent is a nice mix of coffee and pumpkin with a little spice. The combo of the Maggard Slant and the Ladas blade has been working out well so decided to use it again today. Finished off with Endurance balm. Hope everyone is doing well and getting great shaves!
I haven't owned the regular Aqua Velva sold in the U.S. in a long time. I can't remember what it smells like to be honest. I ordered this Aqua Velva because of the "I'd lather be shaving" youtube videos. I was trying to think of what smells Nautica Voyage reminds me of. I keep thinking cubumber and melon, but that other 'something' eluded me until I saw the videos when they brought up Aqua Velva! Eureka! Nautica Voyage, to me, smells like cubumber, melon and aqua velva (at least what I remembered Aqua Velva smelled like when I was a kid). The video where they describe the foreign-sold Aqua Velva being more like the original sold me on ordering it and trying it out. And when I smelled it, sure enough that is what I was looking for. The supporting products in this shave kit really blend/meld well with the Nautica Voyage fragrance. I also managed to find the real Nautica Voyage shave balm and deodorant, but in my initial testing I prefer the setup I used today. I will, at some point, sparingly use the original Nautica Voyage shave balm and deodorant, but it will be pretty rare when I break those out since they aren't sold anymore. I am going to buy the U.S. version of Aqua Velva when I hit the grocery store next week. I will be able to report a more detailed comparison then.

Rockwell 6C Razor Israeli Personna Blade Ever-Ready 1 Boar Brush (restored) WSP Fougere Noir Soap Dickinson's Witch Hazel Aqua Velva Musk After Shave A bit late for my shave today as I was out doing some shopping, but glad I did as when I got home, a Rockwell 6C was waiting for me in the mailbox from @Kypros Christodoulides. To test it out properly, I used a tested and true blade, the Israeli Personna because it gives me consistently smooth BBS shaves in every razor it has been used in. I probably should have waited until tomorrow because of irritation from the high temps and humidity lately, but I just had to. All I can say is excellent as it gave me a great BBS shave. I especially like the heavy weight of the razor and honestly, the razor glided effortlessly along my face and was hardly noticeable. A great addition to my rotation.
