Good Monday morning my fellow Denizens!! Some see Monday as a drag(I did also at one time) but now I see it as a new opportunity to excel. A great shave has a way of furthering that feeling. So without any further ado.. 24 July 2017 Menthol Monday OLD Blade Focus Shave Pre: Hot water, soap from the puck, hot towel Razor: 1911 Gillette OLD type Blade: PolSilver Super Iridium Brush: Omega 10098 Soap: Catie's Bubbles "Sunrise" Post: Hot/Cold water rinse, alum block, cold towelx2, Dominello Vitali Calming Post Shave Moisturizer After Shave: Proraso Green Lozione Dopobarba New week new blade audition. Yesterday's shave kicked off the shave week with the PolSilver Super Iridium. Due to a busy day I didn't post it in the morning and then crapped out last night. Anywhoo, today's shave with "Sunrise" was a kickass way to start the week. Lathers up like a dream, smells fantastic and has a finishing burst of menthol that could motivate a corpse. 2.5 passes of shaving excellence and some Proraso Green provided a launch pad for my day. Have a good 'un y'all!!

Thank you Mark. I am stoked with 5 shaves which means I will be able to use it for the work week with 1 blade.
Yup, they need to be honed. That's the right move. You will see a huge difference when you get them back. If they don't treetop hairs they will not shave.
Cool Photo, Jim! Great photo, Clint! Is that a V2 Genesis ? Have you messed with a despined Gem yet ? Cool razor, Brian! Very nice, Mark!
SOTD July 24th No Pic, busy weekend. Gem Damaskeene Gem Stainless (4) Stirling Mountain Man Ever-Ready 200T w/ 24mm TGN finest Fourth shave with the Damaskeene and although I've figured out how to tame the roughness with this razor I find that the shave quality and closeness just aren't there for me. I get much better shaves out of my Ever-Ready 1912 and Shovelhead. I know this may sound sacrilegious to you SE diehards (Fuzzy) I just don't think that this is a razor that will be staying in my collection I have too many (Way too many actually) other razors that give me a better shave with less effort. Have a great Monday my friends!
Thank you Andrew. Yes it is the V2 Genesis. I have not tried a despined Gem yet. As I understand it the V2 requires the Gem to be despined and then cuts made so that the blade will lock into place. I might get around to it eventually.
