    28 July 2017 R E D Friday OLD Blade Focus Shave

Pre: Copious amounts of Hot water, soap from the container and a hot towel
Razor: 1911 Gillette Single Ring OLD Type
    Blade: PolSilver Super Iridium
Brush: JJ#1 USS Belleau Wood CVL-24 tribute brush by @jimjo1031
Soap: Route 66 "Rum Runner" by
    @Salty Belle
Post: Hot/Cold water rinse, alum block, cold towelx2, Dominello Vitali Calming Post Shave Moisturizer
After Shave: The Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum

Another Friday, another finish to the work and shave week. This week's blade, the PolSilver Super Iridium acquitted itself very well. So far there is a three way tie between GSB, Shark and PSI. I wouldn't want to live on the difference.
Today's shave as is every Friday's was aided and abetted by Route 66 "Rum Runner". JJ#1 whipped up a great lather. Slick, smells great and leaves a fantastic face feel.
2.5 passes by the OLD/PSI duo and I was left with a near BBS shave. The PSI had a little stumble on Wednesday but rebounded to finish up strong.
Splashed on some VIBR and Friday was on.
Picking up my youngest from Virginia tomorrow and it looks like my oldest will be coming back from the ROK the end of September.
    Have a great weekend!!
    HOOAH! BLACKJACK! HOOAH BLACK KNIGHTS!!
  4. July 28, 2017- Proline (again)

    Razor: Schick L1 Injector
    Blade: Schick Proline B (1)
Brush: 30DC LE w/Virginia Sheng Pure Badger
    Cream: KMF fragrance-free
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

I decided to share the love and try a Proline blade in the J1. A smooth shave, a bit of sting from the Alum, and a BBS. I probably need to take a no-shave day and let my skin build up some dead cells again. :)

On a side note, this razor continues to be very frustrating. When I received it, the blade was practically laminated in when the oil originally protecting the blade turned to the consistency of molasses. I thought I had it all cleaned out, but it reared its head when injecting the Proline blade. I'm hoping that an overnight soak in 90% Isopropyl Alcohol will clear it out once and for all. I really need to get a Hydro-Magic one of these days... :p

  7. I agree it works wonders for pictures of the kids. I am so glad my daughter Asha showed me how it to use it.
  8. I had a really nice shave last night. I must say, I really like the Proraso red pre-shave. It really enhances the cushion and slickness of my soap. I'm getting a decent lather with my Van Der Hagen soap, but it isn't as slick as I'd like.

  9. My local CVS has Van Der Hagan soap. It's nice to see a gradual addition of artisan shave products in stores(a series of Every Man Jack products in the nearby supermarket, as well as Block Soaps). There's also a couple Kiss My Face shave tubes. I might buy the Aqua.

    RazoRock Baby Smooth
    Gillette Platinum(2)
    Stirling Boar
Dirty Deeds Bay Rum and Lime

Another epic shave with the Baby Smooth! With this razor I can do a little bit of extra touch up without feeling any irritation. The Stirling Boar continues to work well, the knot is very soft already. The Dirty Deeds soap gave me fits again, I think I've discovered that it can't handle the heat from a scuttle. When I face lather the soap it is fine, but in a warm scuttle it turns into a foamy airy mess. Have a great weekend my friends!
