Well, after realizing I wasn't going to be able to log on here last night I gave up on the whole idea of shaving. Yep, missed you that bad. I was tired anyway and figured I had earned a day off. So, no shave last night. Tonight is the night to give the Kai guarded blade a whirl to see how it compares to the Feather Pro Light that was amazingly bad before. Two Feather blades, both designed to be mild and easier to use, have been somewhat disappointing. The Soft Guard, pink case and all, provided a decent shave but nothing overly spectacular. Definitely harder to cut yourself, though. A plus for some. The Pro Light - is it even a real blade? So little exposure it is almost worthless, in my opinion, and too mild to even consider on a regular basis. For those with super-sensitive skin or super nervous about trying a pain stick? Maybe, but I'd pass on it if only because it doesn't provide enough of a shave to consider it worth it.

I've used the Kai guarded blade before, actually starting with this blade. And, it is an effective enough choice even with the guards. The first thing to notice from the picture below is, yes, you can see the blade in the razor. That helps. There is exposure to actually shave with. It is guarded fairly heavily as you can see but is also sharp enough that it remains smooth and very effective. I didn't have the urge to add pressure during the shave. Good steady strokes at the right angle produced a very fine near-BBS in two passes and a bit of touch up. I was able to go WTG and XTG very easily and with only one sensation of a potential problem. That occured largely due to my own lapse in concentration as I moved from the goatee line back to the ear on the right side to take another stroke. My mind wandered for a second and I felt the blade set down too steep. With a Feather Pro - blood on the steel. With this blade, though, nothing. Just a shudder as I anticipated the worst.

Overall I would recommend this blade for a beginner who wanted to take away some of the risk. It did the job well, and that's what a blade should do.

Hard to believe the week is gone already. Hello Saturday, and here's to everyone out there having a great weekend!

14th day of the NEW focus, 1st day with lots of new stuff. Got the Nacets really cheap from IB and added the Palmolive and Booster to the order as well. The Tuxedo whipped up an excellent lather with the Palmolive. What a nice cream. More menthol than Proraso Green, with more of a minty scent. Made a really nice lather and felt super on the face. The Nacet was an impulse purchase as it was on sale for about $11 CDN for 100. It seems like a quality blade after one shave- sharp and smooth.
Still focussing on skin stretching upward and opening my mouth to draw the jawline skin to a flat spot. I have basically been able to eliminate touch ups. Finished with the Booster- Everyone who has used it already knows this, but it is a little misnamed, as it contains no Menthol. Nice burn with a pleasant, relatively short lasting scent. Definitely in the 'blue' family. Cheap like Borscht.
    Have a great weekend all!

  18. This week, my wife and I had a special visitor. Our 7 year old niece. She's awesome. But, she's 7. That's where I've been... Lots of fun. She's a very nice child, and helped me learn more about Paw Patrol than I ever thought possible.

Being around a 7 year old girl made me realize that I am too skeptical, and that I need to guard my heart so that it never grows cold.

    Thanks for reading.
