My Friday afternoon shave: I'm not a big menthol fan -however with the temperature well into the 90s and no wind and even though I am right on the salt water - it is a bit uncomfortable. I went with my one menthol soap - Stirling Orange Chill. I love the scent as it really does smell like a fresh peeled orange. I also threw on some Fine L'Orange Noir aftershave which has menthol in it. The rest of the set up was my usual Captain's Choice bowl, Merkur 34C with a Nacet blade, Omega boar soaking in the steel cup, and Nivea Post Shave Balm. Although I must note that I ran out of my usual Nivea "Original" balm and bought this new "Maximum Hydration" post shave balm. I like it. It is not as dense as the "Original" and seems to absorb into the skin easier. All in all a great shave for a hot summer day. It is now 3:20 in the afternoon - its not too early for a cocktail on the deck is it?
How can you SEE Menthol? Oh, you mean in the LETTERING. Well why dincha say that in the first place????
From the Chiseled Face Cryogen soap you can actually the menthol crystals. But it's no longer the world's coldest.
I find the Glacials slightly colder now since Rod revamped his formulas. The Arctique aftershave is altogether a menthol freak of nature. Nothing on this planet is as cold as that - nothing usable, that is.
Yeah, thanks Jamie for the heads up. I really wanted to pick up the Alpha Ecliptic and the Mamba, but while I've been waiting over the past 6 weeks, I had an outbreak of RAD and purchased a Charcoal, Gillette New Long, Ti Baby Smooth, Timeless and Asylum Evolution while a Rolls that needs to be stropped is waiting for my attention on the side. I think am going to hang low for at least a couple of weeks. I believe the Mamba will sell out quick and I will probably prioritize it as my next acquisition, over the Alpha. I actually like the original Alpha color that you have instead of the black - it is just different. You are tempting me because I have been waiting since May to try one! I am a sucker for razors. Travel shave at hotel. Edwin Jagger 'kelvin' with Astra Superior Platinum blade. Took some slivers of my Nile Naturals melon cucumber shave soap in a left over plastic container. Finished with the witch hazel and Aqua Velva. Spritzed on some Nautica Voyage from a spare travel sprayer.
