Took a break from Adjustable August earlier this morning to try out the Lux razor I got from Fuzzy
@wchnu. It was a Tale of Two Cities. I got a supremo, beautiful lather from the Cool- Only load for about 12 seconds with this stuff and use a ridiculous amount of water. That was the best of times. The worst of times came as soon as I put blade to face. Firstly, the Lux is an aggressive razor. It has a huge curvature with the top cap and base plate and appears to have quite the blade gap. I knew that and started carefully. Unfortunately, what I didn't do well, apparently, was ensure the blade was aligned properly. This hasn't really been an issue for me in any other razor, but there is definitely some 'wiggle room' with this alignment. It took me a couple of rough starts to figure it out. Not pleasant & my fault. Got the blade aligned properly and it was better sailing after that.
I can't say that it was a particularily nice shave after that. It was functional, and I didn't really cut myself at least. I needed some touch ups for the first time in quite awhile and the Sharp Star felt rough in this razor, which it never does. I got a DFS out of this razor, but it wasn't routine. Technique was solid enough to get a functional shave, but I need to spend some time with this razor.
I'm sure it is just coincidence, but I just realized that I'm reporting a disappointing shave and it is post #666 for me...
Have a great day, all!
