8 August 2017 No Drama OLD Blade Focus Shave

Pre: Hot water, soap out of the container and a hot towel
Razor: 1911 Gillette Single Ring OLD Type
    Blade: Voskhod
    Brush: Rubberset 303
    Soap: Catie's Bubbles "Florentine Fern"
Post: Hot/Cold water rinse, alum block, cold towelx2, Dominello Vitali Calming Post Shave Moisturizer
After Shave: Speick for Men Erfrischende Pflege

Racked out by 2200 last night and slept right to the buzzer at 0545.
This morning I decided on a walk in the woods. The Rubberset 303 did a great job whipping up the "Florentine Fern" in the Old Spice mug. By the time it was ready, I had enough, slick, fragrant, cushiony lather for two people to shave. After 2.5 passes of shaving excellence, I had a DFS+. I still get a big kick out of shaving with a tool that is 106 years old. The Voskhod blade is performing to its reputation.
Splashed on some Speick A/S and it was off to work.
I'd like to thank all my fellow Denizens for their prayers and good wishes yesterday. The MiL is still in hospital, but we should be hearing something by the end of the day.
  9. Excellent picture, Mark!

    Thank you Jim.
  12. Thanks, Jim! 20 shaves is almost a month of shaving when you take one day off like I do. It lasted much longer than I bargained for!
  13. Beautiful razor Brian. The scales are just stunning.
  14. Great photo. I really like the way you change up the backgrounds.
  15. Great photo and good luck with the meetings.

First use with the Clix, which I got last month from Fuzzy. This is an industrial looking razor, but seems to have a head that is like a Tech. I realized I hadn't smelt like an old lady's purse in quite awhile, so I pulled out the Tabac stick and face-lathered the usual nice Tabac lather.
This was a very pleasant shave with the Clix. It feels like a very mild, smooth razor. This is the first time I have used a bakelite handle and it makes for a very 'head heavy' feel. Not unlike a Black Beauty, actually.
I would call it a DFS after 3 passes. I definitely could have used with touch ups this morning but have been foregoing them for 'focus' sake. Finished with the Gration League Sq, which pairs quite nicely with the Tabac. I will give this razor some more attention.
    Have a great day, all!
