Tuesday evening August 8 - Rockwell 6s on plate #3 / Topaz Platinum ( 2 ) Alluminati Envy White badger brush Haslinger Schafmilch soap Alum and Thayers Witch Hazel Original Astringent Well, my three Gillette adjustables hit the post office today on their way to Delta Echo and a new decorator scheme. I will post pics when I get them back in about a month wearing all-matching warpaint. Today I used a soap that doesn't get nearly as much attention on this forum as it deserves, The Fat's Austrian counterpart, Haslinger Schafmilch. Not much for scent (like The Fat) but great slick lather and an excellent post face feel. Two passes and I nearly lassoed the dolphin. Hope everyone had a good Tuesday on the uphill leg of a great week!
Adjustable (Arko) August!!! August 8 - Grand Blade Trials Razor - 1959 (E4) Gillette Fatboy (3) Blade - (1) Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat Brush - Wolf Whiskers Custom Silvertip Post - Alum Tonight begins a four blade trial of Dorco blades. I've used a couple of these before but, by request, I'll be adding the el cheapo Dollar General version in these trials. If I can find a Family Dollar in the next couple of days I'll check theirs as well, but I think they'll be the same since Dollar General bought Family Dollar. Or the other way around. Can't remember. Anyway, head shave first since it's Tuesday and that was interrupted about halfway through when I heard a familiar noise from the basement. Connection between the secondary sump pump and the pipe had come loose so that when the main sump did its thing, which it does a few times an hour due to the water level here, the water flowed straight into the secondary sump, that pump turns on and shoots a geyser all over the basement floor. No damage to anything since it's a wet basement anyway, just a trip downstairs with my head lathered up to reconnect the pipe and call it good. After the excitement and the head shave completion it was time to go Dorco. I chose the ST-301 to start as it is the "standard" Dorco blade. It's a Platinum blade and I've used it before. Nothing special but.....like the Derby....seems to perform when needed. Tonight was no different. On the mild 3 on the Fatboy it actually produced a near-BBS in two passes and touch ups. I'm tempted to give the credit to the Futur from last night leaving it a slightly lighter beard tonight, but I'll go ahead and give props to the Dorco. Smooth and effective. Can't ask for much more than that. We'll see if it can add some sexiness tomorrow on 6. Hope your week has been going well so far. My new one starts tomorrow. Here comes Monday/Wednesday in my world.
Schafmilch is awesome soap. I don't mind the scent either. Mild and unobtrusive. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
Today's shave consisted of my old type (first shave with it) loaded with an Astra SP, my amboyna elite razor silver tip, and a coconut soap from an artisan from Spain. It was PIF'd to me by a member on another board. (Coco by Luna). Really enjoyed the soap scent - somewhere between a true natural coconut and toasted coconut with no hint of smelling perfumey or artificial.
According to paceshave.com (Dorco's OEM site), the Family Dollar and Dollar General blades should be the same. So, which four blades are you going with? So far, I'm aware of the following: STD-301, OEM (i.e., Dollar Store) blade ST-301, Platinum ST-300, Supposedly the same as the ST-301 except for packaging and target market STP-301, Prime Platinum STL-300, Dorco TITAN (possibly the same as the Prime Platinum but for different market) DN-52, SE boxcutter blade that should never be used in a razor, even for shenanigans

August 9, 2017 OneBlade Genesis V2 Feather FHS (2) WDC-6 with Tuxedo Synthetic Route 66 Bay Lime Twist Folsom & Co Capri As expected the Bay Lime Twist was easy to whip into a nice slick lather. I went back to my 2 pass routine of XTG followed by ATG pass. I did pay attention to my trouble spots and stretched the skin where necessary. After minimal touch ups I ended with a excellent but not quite perfect shave. I didn't get my lower right neck as well as I was managing last week. I finished off with a splash of F&C Capri and I think I am ready for a rainy morning commute. I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.
Gem OCMM Gem Stainless (4) Semogue 2000 Iced Orange Arko SS Another nice shave. If nothing else, the OCMM teaches you to use a light touch. Enjoy your day.
SOTD August 9, 2017 Blade: Chinese Schick Razor: Schick M adjustable injector Brush: Surrey two-band badger Lather: Stirling Dunshire Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Dunshire aftershave WTG, touch up I don't have much of a focus this month. However, I'm using my Schick adjustable more often in an attempt to follow some sort of theme. It's a nice razor and works really well for me. The Stirling Dunshire lathered up easily and beautifully and was slick and protective. Great stuff! Really a nice shave in the end. Have a great day!
