The tennis racket is an L3 made from 1965-1980. I use these two web sites to date Schicks. The first site is what most people use to date Schicks. The second one is nice as it has pictures of most of the different types.

Yes and no IMO. Many L types were made from 1965 to 1980. The tennis racket model L-3 "The Grip" dates from circa 1973, and it was based on the much heralded tennis match between Bobby Riggs and Billie Jean King in 1973, I understand.

"The Grip" is my favorite Type L. The handle is wonderful and very user friendly!

I have to go with @EzraCobb; his Grip looks a lot like an N rather than an L (no flare to the head). Two possibilities: 1) It's a late and/or transitional version, possibly for a a non-US market. 2) It's a Frankenrazor made from the handle part of an L3 and the top part of an N1. The only reason I suggest the second possibility is because it seems like the handle is actually inserted into the racket grip part.

Awesome score on the O. We'll done. :happy096: Any thoughts on the theory the handle was mated to that N head as a frankenrazor?

I missed the picture earlier on the tennis racket handle. I've never seen a black tennis handled L-3. Every one I've seen (including my own) has been a medium brown color.

BTW my L-3 has a flared upper handle, and on the head is boldly printed Schick GRIP.

I have no idea what the razor is or its origin.

Even though I threw out the Frankenrazor theory, I'm inclined to go with this being an obscure/transitional variant, partly because of the color (particularly the fact that the handle matches).

Frankly, the canonical reference information on Schick Injectors seems to be North America-centric and/or incomplete. A discussion a few weeks ago called into question parts of the timeline for the G8, I, and J-series razors based on ads from Life magazine. More recently, @GarnerPW picked up a Schick 500 which is clearly based more on the L-series than the J-series but is not documented in the timeline as such (possibly because it may have been intended for a European market). I'm inclined to put this razor as Grip variant based on the N-series. What we need is an ad from something like Paris Match to confirm.

John, I'm inclined to agree with your theory. If only such razors could talk. What stories they could tell us!

    Brass General/Windrose Handle with Feather Pro [ 4 ]
Though the original brass handle never slipped, I never felt really at ease with it. I now prefer to use it with a handle
with some knurling, as I have no Brass alternative a S/S one may look odd, but I am more at ease with the Shave.
Most importantly, I am getting good quality Shaves.

Superb beard and head shave with the 1914 / GEM PTFE, KMF. The razor cries out for an adapter for a longer handle though.[IMG]

The head is definitely a N head, and it also came with dummy blade! so strange that over 10 years after the brown handle they did it again.... maybe for euro market. closer look ----> [IMG]
