  2. Adjustable (Arko) August!!!

    August 21 Grand Blade Trials

    Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (6)
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Tabac
    Brush - WCS Synthetic
    Post - Alum

Well after a fun day of chasing shadows I settled in with the Slim and Gillette Stainless for its second time around. Tabac and the West Coast brush for the lather and two passes and touch ups for the BBS finish. Can't beat that for a shave. Alum was quiet, face feels good and I'm a happy camper. Nothing fancy or over the top about this blade. Just a quality piece of sharpened steel from Gillette. They've always been proud of their stainless blades from the first time they introduced them. Shave on!

  3. IMG_3044.JPG Whenever I've skipped a day of shaving I perform a 2 or 3 pass shave.

So a two-day growth called for a multi-pass shave, which I decided to do on Sunday night. I was looking forward to it as I hadn't done a multi-pass with the Schick adjustable in this first week of short 3-week razor focus.

My 3-pass shave gave me one of the easiest BBS shave ever! I was facerbating all evening long. (Could I go blind?)

I chose adjustable settings at 7-5-1 for the WTG, XTG and ATG passes, respectively.

This shave was so much more comfortable and close than my daily, workweek one-pass shave has been (ATG - @setting 3).

That usual one-pass, workday shave is fine for a CCS, but the shave today has caused me to seriously consider going to a 2 or 3 pass during the week.

A word on soaps...Stirling soaps are truly luxury-quality soaps. Every Stirling soap I've tried is top notch in every category we look for in a soap, yet priced to match most everyday brands.

    Cheers!

  4. ...and speaking of almost going blind...Seattle's eclipse view today was at 90% totality.

    Of course!

    but Old?

Good to see you as well Bear! :)
  7. Ok,ok long time friend!:bounce017: LOL
  8. I am pre-posting my shave of the day. In honor of the eclipse I am passing on adjustables and going with my Kampfe Bros Star lather catcher razor, my Omega 10049, some La Toja, and wrapping it up with some Art Of Shaving Ocean Kelp aftershave lotion that I picked up at Burlington today for $5 in the store liquidation sale. Just as soon as I finish this single tumbler of bourbon on the front porch.

  9. I'm enjoying the Green lotion. Anyone know a cologne or EDT with a similar scent?
Also picked up a bottle of the Blu. It does compliment the White soap and works with Tabac. The scent reminds me of muscadine grapes picked fresh from the vine. It's not the clear liquid splash of the Green but a milky white balm type.
  10. Tuesday Shave;

I touched up the Mastro Livi on a Shapton Glass 16k and wow what a smooth edge. Four passes and a fine shave.

  13. Beautiful razor, Keith! Looks like a terrific shave.

  16. Great looking razors Keith. All the Mastro Livi razors look like pieces of art.

  18. Great setup. I love the G&T.
  19. Unfortunately I didn't get to ride. One of those cases where the mind was willing but the body had other ideas. :)

    Aug 22 SOTD:

    Stirling Synthetic Brush
    MWF
    Gillette Fatboy
    Big Ben (12)
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    Aqua Velva AS

It was a very near BBS this morning with a great razor, blade, and soap combination. The Fat was so slick this morning, and the blade is holding on well. I am definitely impressed with how this blade is performing after nearly writing it off. I capped off this enjoyable shave with some Aqua Velva, which I don't use often enough. I hope everyone has a great day!
