Yeah, they have a shorter lofted one with a kinda stubby handle than call a Pro. Seems like a short handle for the name, but I will probably grab one when the Hot Apple Cider soap comes back out.
Adjustable (Arko) August!!! August 22 Grand Blade Trials Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (9) Blade - (3) Soap - Tabac Brush - Jayaruh #46 Post - Alum Final shave for the Gillette Stainless. Slim on 9, Tabac and the JR46 for no issues lather. Very nice feel to the lather and to the shave as well. Very smooth and the alum was only slightly warmer than the last two nights. Finish was a BBS after two passes and touch up. That's two in a row. No way can this blade be considered anything than top tier. Russian made in St. Petersburg and a long history with Gillette. While it may not have a sexy name or image, it just flat works. I'll pick a new Gillette tomorrow night and switch up the soap and be ready to roll on! No head shave tonight as my scalp is a bit tender from being under the sun yesterday. Didn't wear my hat because it was interfering with the view. I apparently needed eclipse glasses for my head! And yes, I'm aware the picture has the Fatboy and not the Slim. I grabbed the wrong one before the shave. Switched before I shaved but decided the picture would work.
Well, I fell off the wagon today and fed something to almost all my ADs. I feel like I was doing the song "The 12 Days of Christmas": Three Tubs of Soap, Two Stands for Brushes, One Shaving Brush, and a Bottle of Lucky Tiger Aftershave Tonic...
August 23, 2017 Wolfman WR1 OC Feather (1) Elite Razor “Tres Amigos” Beehive with Envy White Route 66 Bay Lime Twist Folsom & Co Capri Another excellent drama free shave this morning which is a great way to start the day. The last 1/4 pass on my lower right neck is the ticket. Adding it to my normal routine for each razor really improves the quality of the shave. A splash of F&C Capri and I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.
Thank you Jim. We had a lot of rain today so I just took the bathroom. Sent from my STV100-3 using Tapatalk
Gave the Schick a go on 9 today still Loving this razor. Paired today with Barrister and Mann Seville and Barrister and Mann Reserve Classic it was a great 2 pass shave to start the day off right. Used the JR 191 to bring it all together no sting from the alum. Sent from my XT1710-02 using Tapatalk
Aug 23 SOTD: Razorock Plissoft Brush Stirling Frozen Tundra Gillette Fatboy Big Ben (13) Stirling Unscented PSB Arctique AS Another nice shave this morning, but it does feel like the blade is loosing its edge a bit. I still got a DFS, but it was not quite as smooth and a little tuggy. The shave was nice and cold with some Frozen Tundra and Arctique. I hope everyone has a great day!
SOTD August 23, 2017 Blade: Chinese Schick Razor: Schick M adjustable injector Brush: Omega Hi synthetic Lather: Strop Shoppe Baker Street Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Baker Street aftershave WTG, touch up My lack of focus continues, but I have at least used the Schick adjustable a good bit this month in following the thread's theme. Today's shave was nice and easy. The Strop Shoppe soap lathered easily and produced slick and comforting lather. Normal patterns of passes produced a close and smooth shave. The Stirling aftershave is top-notch and feels silky when going on. Overall a great mid-week shave. Have a nice day!
This one is going into the honing pile. I had to do a clean up pass with my #66 Aristocrat. I'm now BBS Mitchell's Wool Fat Soap TSD 30DC LE Brush Giesen and Forsthoff Adoration Razor Lucky Tiger Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve After Shave Have fun!
Wednesday morning August 23 Rockwell 6s on plate #3 / Topaz Platinum ( 2 ) Omega B+B Essential Boar Kent / MWF in wooden tub Alum and no postshave products I used the Omega boar brush again this morning, this time with The Fat. I plan to stick with this brush for the next week or so, using it with the four soaps I have on deck right now (The Fat, my Italian frankensoap, Arko and Haslinger Schafmilch). Then when my new Semogue arrives in a few days, I will start to break it in and will compare the two. Today's lather was not wonderful, but that wasn't the fault of the brush -- I underwatered the soap for the first pass, then went too far in the other direction and drowned the lather for the second. My razor was almost sticking in places during the first pass. For the second, with lather that was thin and dripping everywhere, the razor was squeaking as it skidded along removing a thin layer of liquid lather from "squeaky clean" skin. I will do better with the Fat tomorrow. The actual shave results were good -- two passes to a near BBS with absolutely no complaints from Mr. Alum. Using no postshave products, the Fat has left my face feeling clean and comfortable, as though hydrated with a good moisturizer that did its job and sank in without leaving any sort of greasy residue behind. It's obvious why Mitchell's Wool Fat has been around so long. Good shaves and a good Wednesday to everybody.
23 August 2017 Wool Fat Wednesday Adjustable August Blade Focus Shave Pre: The usual Razor: Gillette Slim Adjustable vintage 1971 Blade: The benchmark, Gillette Silver Blue Brush: The Big Italian Boar(TBIB), Omega 10098 Soap: Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap(aka "The Fat") Post: You know. Do I really have to write it? After Shave: Canoe by Dana Wool Fat Wednesday! Used my 10098 to whip the Fat into a great, slick, cushiony lather. The Slim/GSB duo powered thru my weekday stubble like a boss. 2.5 passes of shaving excellence and my face was BBS and moisturized. Splashed on some Canoe and the morning shave ritual was well completed. Week's half over. Hump Daaaay! Have a good 'un.
