Well, they say a possible Cat 4 now. And Houston's looking like it's getting the dirty side. I'm staying put. I have to work through it, and hopefully I Have enough gas for a few days of the generator. That is, if we loose power. I guess we'll see. This isn't my first one, and probably won't be my last. The last one knocked power out for 13 days.
Move the shaving gear to the hurricane shelter first! Then, come back for the women and children. Seriously tho... stay safe.
As of 4 PM, NOAA had the track being to hit Corpus/Port O'Connor area around 1 AM on Saturday. Right now, it's classified as a H (hurricane), with the expectation to be an M (Major Hurricane) by 1 PM on Friday (tomorrow). The nasty part is that they're thinking it'll whack the coastline, go in a bit as a hurricane, die down to a storm, then run along the coastline and end up at Galveston Bay by 1 PM on Tuesday. Using tomorrow as the start, that's up to 6 days of hammering weather for the Houston area. Then Beaumont gets to have the fun. But, like most of them, it'll be a 'watch it carefully'. The tracks can move radically. The last one was predicted to run right over Houston, and ended up going up the Sabine Pass and just causing nasty messes in Louisiana and Mississippi.
It looks like a rainmaker for us here in the Kingwood area of Houston. But, you know how often Weather Forecasters are correct. Funny, I was filling up a couple of 5 gallon jugs of water, at Wal-Mart, and people were hoarding bottled water, beer, and Tuna Fish.
Thinking about it, it's probably not a bad idea for me to take the 5 gallon water bottle I have, rinse it with some bleach, and fill it up at the local water filter station down the street. Not worried about toilet flushing water, or washing water - we'll have plenty of rain.
Here in Boston, the weather forecasters will hate it if it bypasses us....they love to scare us with negativity.
