We repurposed our dining room and use it now as a studio for my wife. She has a small monogramming and embroidery business. She has a big 15-needle embroidery machine and it takes up a lot of space and is HEAVY. So we moved the table and most of the furniture out of the dining room and she is using that room now. We eat dinner together almost every night at the kitchen table. But if we have more than three or four over to eat we just have to farm out into the living room.
25 August 2017 R E D Friday Blade Focus Shave, Adjustable August Edition Pre: Hot water, soap from the container and a hot towel Razor: 4Q 1967 Gillette Super Adjustable Blade: Gillette Silver Blue Brush: 1955 Rubberset 303 Soap: Route 66 "Rum Runner" by @Salty Belle Post: Hot/Cold water rinse, alum block, cold towelx2, Dominello Vitali Calming Post Shave Moisturizer After Shave: Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum Last shave for the week. Felt like a three passer this morning and the Slim/GSB combo was up to the task. After whipping up a great lather with the 303 and "Rum Runner", I was BBS for maybe the third or fourth time this week. Splashed on some VIBR and Friday was off to an outstanding start. Hope you are wearing RED today.
If I need to evacuate it's just me and my nephews dog that I'm providing a temp home to. Next step would be join up with my parents who live 10 miles north. They have 3 dogs & a cat. Between our three vehicles we can haul critters cages, air mattresses, & photo albums to high ground. I haven't decided yet if leaving will happen. Getting back in can be a problem because the authorities don't like to give up control once they get it. The Cajun Navy helps when they can.
August 25, 2017 Razor: F2 Gillette 195 Adjustable (5) Blade: Dorco Prime Platinum (1) Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22 Cream: KMF fragrance-free Post: Alum, Listerine, WH I was trying to decide on a blade for today when I thought about @Queen of Blades's request for information about the Dorco Prime Platinum. As a result, I decided to pull out my last one. The Fatboy on a setting of '5' is near the edge of my tolerance for aggressiveness but the combo gave me a very nice shave and no issues. I'd call it a BBS or near enough. This is definitely the best of the Dorco blades though I've come to consider the possibility that, given the right razor, there are no really bad ones.
Two days growth with the Timeless Ti 0.95 OC and a Personna blue blade. Sudsy Soapery Sandlewood and Myrrh lathered with a Chubby 2 synthetic. Followed by alum and Krampert's Frostbite. Another DFS without irritation. The time spent with the Timeless during my two week focus is paying dividends. The 0.95 plate is much more efficient than the 0.68, and requires only a small trade off in attention to detail. A WTG pass and two XTG passes result in the same shave without the buffing the 0.68 plate requires. As I'm a generally a daily shaver, the 0.68 will still be my daily driver, but it's nice to know the 0.95 will step up and take care of business with growth beyond one day. The Personna blue isn't my favorite blade (a bit harsher than I like), but still a sharp and relatively smooth blade. But it's no Voskie The Sudsy Soapery soaps seem to be my favorite amongst the latest crop of really good artisan soaps. I haven't found the scent that wows me just yet, but in terms of performance, it's absolutely fantastic stuff! I also have some T&S, L&L, Oleo, and Wholly Kaw in my current soap rotation but so far it's the Sudsy by a nose. The Chubby 2 Synth is a new brush, and it is my opinion, the best synth I've used. My complaint against synths is their minimal water holding properties. The Chubby 2 is dense enough, it gets around this. Really liking this brush so far! It's actually earned a place on my counter next to my favorite badger, boar, and horse brushes. The Krampert's Frostbite! LOVING this stuff! I'm not a huge menthol head, but love the cool blast it provides in the Tampa heat. Incredible skin care properties as well, leaves my face feeling nearly as nice as my favorite Nivea Post Shave Balm with that awesome blast of cool menthol. Very, very good stuff!
Thank you, Clint! I am pretty impressed with the Chattilon Lux performance. I try to never fully rate a product after one use, but honestly this one has the potential to be the best overall AS in my collection.
Thank you, Jason. This is my first and (so far) only scent from them. I will look at more. I am also thinking long and hard about the EdT in this scent.
CL is SO on my radar. I have a glut of AS, but still feel the need to try this. The Unconditional Surrender is calling my name so hard. Maybe the EdT as well...
Friday morning August 25 - proceeding along the path Rockwell 6s on plate #3 / Topaz Platinum ( 2 ) Omega B + B Essential Boar Kent / MWF in wooden tub Rinse and leftover lather I face lathered the Fat today. The lather came out the perfect consistency and laid the ground for a stellar shave. I skipped the alum and used the leftover creamy lather squeezed from the brush as a postshave balm. I let it sit while I cleaned up, then finished with a coldwater rinse. I'm BBS shaved, clean and refreshed with a face that feels well-tended from The Fat. To those in the path of Harvey, prayers for your safety. And here's wishing all the Denizens a good weekend.
I don't believe there is anything better in my den. IMHO, only the Barrister's Reserve products are on the same level in terms of 'face feel'. The scents were a step out of my usual comfort zone, but both (this and Gratiot League Square) have grown on me considerably.
My friends, it has been a long hard week, been shaving but haven't had time to post. And backreading the thread, I cant manage that many pages. So I will say I hope everyone has a good weekend and hopefully next week things will slow down a little at work, and life can return to normal! TGIF!
