  1. August 26th - Shave at the Lake
    Gillette 40s SS w Derby (?#)
    TGN synthetic / mahogany handle
    Palmolive Classic shave stick
    Stirling Mentholated Balm

Had a pleasant 3 pass shave with my RV set up earlier this morning. Had one moment of panic as I realized I pitched the Astra from this razor last time I was here and for a few seconds thought I wasn't going to shave until I saw a single Derby in a wrapper in the bottom of the medicine cabinet. No idea how many days were on it, but it worked.
Also realized I forgot to bring out more Thayers. First time I haven't used it in months. Did finish with the Menthol Balm, though. Odd, but nice shave this morning. Have a great day all!
  2. KMF is fantastic stuff. I use the Lavender Shea as well.

  4. Mind = blown

I picked up a couple of goodies at a local antique store yesterday. I found a 64 Flare Tip in super condition, and an Avon Gentlemen's Regiment mug. The mug had a turquoise plastic Johnson and Johnson razor thrown in. I decided to give the plastic DE a go today just for giggles, and threw in a Dorco Prime Platinum blade. Lathered up the B&M Latha Tiga with my 30DC brush and went at it with the expectation that I would get a socially acceptable shave with a little work.

What I ended up with was one of the smoothest, easiest shaves of my life. Angle was intuitive, the blade was smooth, everything just worked. One of my best shaves, ever. Finished off with Barbasol Brisk, and then some Animale Animale, which paired nicely with the Taiga and of which the wife strongly approved. Super morning shave.

  7. Cool mug, great photo and, I bet, super technique, Chris!
  8. Awesome picture, Chris! Sounds like a great shave!
  9. Great mug. I'll have to check the GR site...as I recall, stuff was pretty pricey.
  10. At the vast price you paid for them, you might want to stash a carton of those Nacets there and avoid any future risk of such (non)shaving disasters happening...
  11. It was probably the turquoise colour of the razor that made all the difference to the shave. :)

Nice picture of a good score!
  12. I saw a couple of the mugs on the 'Bay for around $5. One with a matching brush for $11.

  13. It was such an easy shave I didn't feel at to work for it at all.

  14. Thing is that razor has been sitting in that store for years. I have walked by it many times. The only reason I got it was because she threw it in with the mug. Judged a book by its cover, got proven wrong.

  15. Thank you Doug. Most of the ride was fantastic. I had an eventful moment that terrorized the **** out of me. Operator error (ME) let the bike die as I pulled out into a really dangerous intersection. Murphy's law kicked in and the battery died so I couldn't restart the bike. Luckily I have long legs and pushed it to safety and jumped it off with a emergency battery pack. I still hear the tires squealing from the truck braking trying not to hit me. Wow. Usually I terrorize myself by letting the young Clint out of the box and doing something stupid. I will buy a new battery before the next ride. :)
  16. Yup, you're right. That would take foresight and/or planning when I go, though.
  17. Thank you Jim. I had fun and survived the ride so I am happy.

Thank you Jared. I scored this on The Nook BST and it looked rough. After finding out how well it shaves I had Nick at Sport Shaving replate the razor. I think he did a great job for his first Gem style razor .
  18. Great picture Jim. Good luck with the generator.

Great Picture Mark. I need to educate myself on the various Paladin handles and knot sizes. They are certainly some great looking brushes.
  19. My prayers for you today for the strength to make it through a difficult day and the ability to recall the pleasant memories of a friend.
  20. Great score! Congrats. :eatdrink047:
