    Razor: Schick J1 Injector
    Blade: Schick Proline B
    Brush: Razorock Plissoft 22
    Cream: Dove Hydrating+
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

Back to the J1 and Proline. After the first couple of strokes, though, I realized something that I suspected the last time I used this razor- the blade had gone south. So, a mid-pass blade change and we were back to the races for two passes and a issue-free near-BBS.

I'm starting to get mildly concerned about the Proline B blades. I'm wondering if they don't hold up as well as regular Injector blades or, at least, rest as well in the razor. That... or I need to rethink how I rest my razors.

Smooth and enjoyable ride with the GEM 1912. Nice razor. I had a slightly rough shave the last time I used it but today was terrific. Really nice.

    Have a great weekend!

Two pass with clean up for a BBS.
I like the results I'm getting from it.
This may very well end up as my go to razor.

A relaxed almost too easy Shave with the ATT, so close all round even around the jawline where whiskers are

    Gem 1911 Lather Catcher
    Original Gem Cutlery SE

    Thayer's Lemon WH
    Lucky Tiger

I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Mitchell's Wool Fat Shaving Soap face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #204 Horse brush. I did the two passes with the Gem 1911 Lather Catcher and vintage Gem Jr. blade (honed by @twhite ) and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Lucky Tiger AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
  11. You can modify a SE blade for it.

Or Feather SE blades work well:

@captnronfl sent me his Wilkie to see if I could hone up his blades. I honed 4 of them. Boy is this steel some good hard stuff. All the blades had many small chips. With some work I was able to get the 3 sharp.

I had 6 days of beard. This bad boy made short work of it.

Off to Ron so he can have some fun.

  13. Great I will enjoy shaving with it I am sure.
I really appreciate you honing them for me.
Too bad the other blades were not in good enough shape to hone.
Between it and the Rolls I know I have a razor blade killer.
I just have to find another kit with a good stone and handle.
My handle looks like it is bent to make it into a slant.
It won't stop me whom using it that way though.
I've been looking but it seems most have broken honing stones in them and /or missing the handle too.
    I'm patient.
I think the Wilkie is a much nicer looking set up.
I'm going to try to find a strop for it too.
I think a Valet Auto Stop will fit it.
I think the Rolls is the most practical set up.
    Thanks Tom

The last 4 blades can be sharpened. Just will take a bit of time.

I think you will really enjoy the shave.

  16. Scored this today sorta by accident but it seems like its in great condition. If even has a few new blades in the dispenser. Guess I finally get to see what all the excitement is about. [IMG][IMG][IMG]

  17. If there is no blade loaded, as it appears, plan on wasting the first one, in loading an empty head you'll typically ruin the first one.
