  1. Good luck. It is why I never take vacations. You work twice as hard for two weeks trying to get out of there, worry about things the whole time you are gone, and then work twice as hard for two weeks once you get back. Plus, I have never had paid time off. So not only am I spending money, I'm not making it either. It's like paying double.

  2. Wake up people. You are not going to get cookies. It is a recruiting bait and switch run by the cartel. Boycott the cookie vote! (Wait, was that out loud?)

My wife and daughter challenged me to a wing eating contest, so I had to hurry and get cleaned up tonight.

Other than a couple little misses, I was smooth like a dolphin, and smelled quite "pine-appley". I wore my stretchy pants, and a great time was had by all.

  4. Adjustable (Arko) August!!!

    August 28 Grand Blade Trials

    Razor - 1962 (H1) Gillette Slim (9)
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Soap - Truefitt & Hill 1805
    Brush - WCS Synthetic
    Post - Alum

Final night for the SharpEdge blade. Slim on 9, T&H and West Coast brush providing a really quality lather with no second effort required. I think I've got this soap figured out for good.

The Gillette yellow is a sharp blade, no doubt about it. And on the fully aggressive setting on the Slim you know it. Not harsh but definitely raised a bit more irritation than last night. Still, it was a smooth shave with just the right amount of "oh wow I feel that edge" to it. Nice. Very nice. The baby was easy to get with the usual two passes and touch ups. Another Gillette Russian that leads the pack.

Three more days in August and it will be SEptember!! That's right, Single Edge September is almost upon us. In addition we'll throw in "Drug Store Aftershaves" for a theme there as well. Dust off the bottoes of Old Spice, Aqua Velva, whatever you've got, or go out and get some! There, enabling enough? I have a few single edge razors I'll pull out for some of the shaves as well as some great after shaves on the cheap! Should be a fun month.

But, that's still 72 hours away. I'll choose another Gillette for the final three days of the month, stay with the Slim and finish with Arko for the soap! I'm working tomorrow so only one day off this week which was today. I'll be making the job decision within the next 24-48 hours. Likely closer to 24. Have a great day!

  5. Tuesday Shave

This razor came with an OK so over the weekend I took it to the stones and rehoned it. It honed up quickly and took smooth and very sharp edge. Thank you @mrchick for inspiring this purchase.

Today I went with my first 'expensive' brush a Simpson Duke 3 in best, still very happy with it. The Crowne and Crane tallow makes some nice slick lather so I was hoping for a nice shave. Four passes no blood, no irritation and a smooth face.

  6. Monday night August 28 - new toys!

    IMG_00000047.jpg

    Rockwell 6s on plate #3 / Topaz Platinum ( 1 )
Semogue Owners Club 24mm cherrywood boar
My Red Green Duct Tape Special frankensoap
Alum and Lucky Tiger Aftershave and Tonic

Tonight's shave was brought to me by Fendrihan, enablers par excellence to Canadian wetshavers. My order arrived today with my new Semogue brush, a stand for it, and a bottle of Lucky Tiger. I immediately test lathered the brush, then let the lather dry on it before rinsing it out. As you can see from the above photo, the brush is already blooming nicely. And I think the cherrywood handle is gorgeous! I included my Omega B + B Essential Boar brush in the shot, and the knot looks almost anemic by comparison.

Naturally, the Fendrihan order determined the equipment I shaved with tonight. I then chose my soft Italian almond frankensoap for the Semogue's first outing, and used the reliable combo of my Rockwell and a fresh Topaz blade.

The Semogue has much more backbone than the Omega without being at all scritchy. It did a super job lathering up the Vitos Red / Vitos Green / Valobra Almond / Cella / 3P mix. The razor then did two passes to an irritation-free BBS. I then put some Lucky Tiger in my tank and left the bathroom feeling grrreat!

I would like to thank everyone who has used and praised Lucky Tiger on this thread. I had never heard of it before I joined the Crew, and it really is good stuff.

I am very pleased with all of today's additions to my den. I think my Omega brush may soon be leaving it though...

  7. Always happy to help with enabling. Nice razor Keith.
  8. Nice picture, Jared. Sounds like a fun evening.
  9. Great lineup Jared. I really like the traditional looks of the Feather DX.
  10. Very nice razor Keith.
  11. The new SOC brush looks gorgeous. :happy096:
  12. I like the Blackland very much. I believe the coating has made the razor more aggressive. I'll have to use a few different blades to be sure.
  13. Thanks very much Paul.

  14. Thank you, Clint. I think the cherry wood is really quite special and so far it seems like a great boar knot - already soft but lots of backbone and zero shedding.

Just got a great deal on a lightly used Paladin Disco which arrived yesterday, so this morning was its maiden run. My latest Stirling order also came in yesterday, and I was surprised to find out how much I like Bergamot Lavendar. I'm not normally a floral scent kind of guy, but this scent is outstanding. After 1 pass, I realized that the Rapira had overstayed its welcome in my slim and was starting to tug a bit. I swapped it out for a new Voshkod and a all these elements came together to produce an outstanding shave. I decided to go all in on the floral theme with Florida Water. I am now one smooth faced, nice smelling man. Even my 7 year daughter old gave her much sought after but seldom granted approval, of the scent.
  16. The handle does look fantastic. Again congrats.
  17. Gorgeous brush Randy.

  20. What is your take on this soap Clint? I don't think I've seen it before.
