Nothing but incredibly satisfying shaves from the SEs I've used this month but it's time to move onto injectors. I used an oldie but goodie, the rarely seen Personna British Executive. It's been more than a year since I last shaved with it and I have the same two things to say about it. I've forgotten how incredibly smooth and aggressive this razor is. And, for some reason, the blade is way outlasting the normal life for me. I'll add a third observation. It almost seems like the blade is held even stiffer than others (don't know how that is possible) in the way it so easily and efficiently mows down the whiskers. Top rated razor for sure. Glad I pulled it out today. Friday's SE Shave Proraso Pre Shave Tabac Shaving Cream Jayaruh #217 Schick L1 Personna Stainless CWR Thayer's Lemon WH Lucky Tiger I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Tabac Shaving Cream face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #217 synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Schick L1 and a Personna Stainless blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Lucky Tiger AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

SEptember 15, 2017 Colonial Razors 'The General' Feather Pro Super Simpson Chubby 2 Synthetic Mike's Natural Barbershop Barrister and Mann Seville aftershave Brooks Brothers 1818
Today was my Colonial General brass razor. I still find the handle too slick, the razor too heavy and it too hard to maneuver compared to my aluminum Hawks. The end result is still pretty much the same, a PDG shave but it's not as enjoyable as some of my other razors. Although this is a nice enough razor that I may well buy the aluminum version when it gets re-released it is unlikely to be one that gets lots of face time.
SOTN Stirling SEptember 14th Ever-Ready 1924 "Shovel Head" Gem Stainless (6) Simpsons CH2 Synthetic Faux Tortoiseshell "The Soap Destroyer" Stirling Baker Street AV Ice Sport For some reason the Shovel Head felt hyper aggressive last night. Maybe the blade was on its last legs, but I really had to focus on a light touch and staying on the cap. In the end I ended up with a DFS, no nicks or weepers with just a spot or two of irritation. Followed up with a splash of AV Ice Sport which had a little bite to it, then the menthol kicked in and all was good. Have a good weekend my friends!
The Shovelhead always felt aggressive for me. A shim helped a little bit. It's not as smooth for me as say the 1912.
I don't remember it feeling this aggressive last time I used it. I'm sure the blade had something to do with it, but yes I agree with you it is more aggressive then the 1912.

15 SEptember Pre-Shave: Hot Shower Brush: 24mm Silvertip, Frank Shaving (FS) Soap: Arko/Williams Razor: GEM 1912, (Brooklyn?) Blade: Treet (10) Post-Shave: Cold Water rinse and Clubman After Shave Lotion, Pinaud Photo: Today I was just wanting to try and get back to my normal routine & hoping it would also help with my pain level to get cleaned up. For today's shave I hoping for unadulterated lather. What soap gives a better lather than Arko or Williams but a mix of Arko and Williams and it did not disappoint me. I used the FS Silvertip for the second time. This is a nice dense brush with a 25-25.5mm knot at the top of the handle and a 52.45mm loft. The only negative thing I could say about the brush is the lack of back bone. If it was set just a couple of mm deeper it would be a better brush. I may at some time in the future reset the knot in another handle. Today's razor was a GEM 1912. It may/may not be another GEM Brooklyn. @Bird Lives told me I should do a compression between this razor and my other Brooklyn 1912 which I will be doing in another post. I did a two pass shave with a cleanup pass under my jaw. Finished with some new Clubman After Shave I picked up the other day on the way home from the hospital. All this left me with a DFS.
SOTD 9.15.2017 Pre-shave: Hot shower Brush: RazoRock synthetic Soap: RazoRock Oil of Lavender Razor: Schick injector E3 Blade: Schick (3) Post Shave: Thayer's witch hazel, Nivea Sensitive Men's Post Shave Balm, Aqua Velva AS I really like this RazoRock soap. It lathers well and I had enough for both a face and head shave. Normally, I find I can't do more than 2 comfortable shaves with these Chinese made Schick blades, but this one I stretched to 3 shaves. In spite of 48 hours of stubble growth, it was a comfortable shave and I got a DFS. Have a great weekend everyone!
