"Michael is conscious and is finally speaking. His first words were 'Chinese food.' The Doctors are giving him medicine in a schedule. It is a day to day basis and this infection causes neurological problems when the medicine kills the infection. Too fast, he gets swelling on the membrane of his brain."
It could be that his body is telling him that it wants something that would be easy to get in Chicken Vegetable with Lo Mein, or something similar. Interestingly enough, we're going to go out for Chinese in an hour or so. Glad he's starting to verbalize. That's a good sign, even if he's not fully conscious.
He was being fed intravenously for the last three months, so I imagine that he will get Jello to start with, regardless of his desire for Chinese food.
Well, that settles it. We are going for Chinese food tomorrow in honor of Mike talking again. Good to hear some good news for a change.
More news to report. He wasn't in a coma and pretty much remembers most things, just not being taken to the hospital. Another good sign........
That is good news! (I think I would rather have been in a coma than just been unable to respond to anything for three months. I would have come out of that stark raving mad, I'm afraid).
Mike has been getting a lot of support and e-mails from cavers from around the world offering their prayers. Many of them use his carbide caving light, which has been praised by cavers every where. He is also being kept in a "clean room", don't need any more infections.
Kimberly says that Mike has been able to walk with a walker. It sounds like he is making a comeback. That is good.
