  1. I have two different GEM 1912 Brooklyn's that I have to use two different techniques to get a good shave out of. The one I used today I have on, too just off my face. The other one I start at the cap being 90º then bring it up slighty till I start removing whiskers. The second one, thus far, has given me better shaves.

I continue to be amazed by the sharpness of these schicks from the mid and late 70s!

I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The TSD Iced Lime Shaving Soap face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #216 synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Gem Push-Button razor and a CVS blade. I ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Clubman Vegetal AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Schick adjustable this morning. Set to wide open (setting 8) for a smooth ride. I normally use settings 5-7 and have not used 8 until today. Perhaps I'll use #8 some more! It was smooth and comfortable and easy peasy.

    Have a great day!

  13. Today was a 4 day growth shave with my M2 Schick Adjustable with a Chick single blade. My face was nice and really slick from the MWF (Mitchell's Monday, right?) I did 3 comfortable passes and the resulting BBS was awesome. Absolutely no AS feedback. What a way to start the day!

  14. Oh yeah. Igor in the house. Beautiful three pass BBS, I think I'll get that down to two as I get used to the angles. I don't find the more aggressive setting at all intimidating but you're either a MMOC guy or a G-Bar guy and I'm definitely the former. The sloppy shaver (hello) will find the handle a little slippery, funnily enough a towel seems to work wonders. Anxious for another go tomorrow.[IMG]

    Razor: Schick '500' Injector
    Blade: Chick
    Brush: Beauty Accents Kabuki
    Cream: KMF fragrance-free
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

I was reading some threads over the weekend about using a Kabuki brush (a kind of makeup brush) as a shaving brush. On a whim, I popped into the Dollar General and picked up one for the princely sum of $3.00 figuring "what's the worst that could happen"? It's a synthetic with a look similar to a Tuxedo knot; definitely on the small side (probably 18 or 20mm with a short loft) set in a handle about as big as half a 35mm film canister. Very soft and dense, though. I'll have to try and grab a picture later.

I wasn't sure what to expect, but the brush handled the KMF just fine, probably about as well as my Plissoft. Very nice face feel, as well. I imagine a hard soap might be a challenge for it, though. I think the biggest issue was actually the short, smooth handle. Still, this could be a worthy travel brush.

Everything else went just fine. Two passes to a near-BBS with one weeper (not sure if that was a technique fail or some residual from yesterday's Gem shave).
