  2. You seem largely unprepared for a whole year of no buying. I'll try to enable you some more before 1-1-18 ;)
  3. The razor turned out fantastic. However, the brush is simply stunning. You have me interested in the knot so please keep us updated on your thoughts as it fully breaks in.
  4. I don't think you'll be disappointed Clint. Lathers just like the Green and when I close my eyes I can't tell the difference as far as the scent goes. And it's a lot easier to get ahold of!
  5. Too Funny. :happy097::happy097:
  6. Thank you, Clint! Have a great day!
  7. Great picture, Perry! The brush handle looks terrific!
  8. Excellent picture, Mark!
  9. Nice set up for Menthol Monday, Jim. The CO Bigelow and Proraso Green make a great combination.

    Razor: Schick '500' Injector
    Blade: Chick
    Brush: Beauty Accents Kabuki
    Cream: KMF fragrance-free
    Post: Alum, Listerine, WH

I was reading some threads over the weekend about using a Kabuki brush (a kind of makeup brush) as a shaving brush. On a whim, I popped into the Dollar General and picked up one for the princely sum of $3.00 figuring "what's the worst that could happen"? It's a synthetic with a look similar to a Tuxedo knot; definitely on the small side (probably 18 or 20mm with a short loft) set in a handle about as big as half a 35mm film canister. Very soft and dense, though. I'll have to try and grab a picture later.

I wasn't sure what to expect, but the brush handled the KMF just fine, probably about as well as my Plissoft. Very nice face feel, as well. I imagine a hard soap might be a challenge for it, though. I think the biggest issue was actually the short, smooth handle. Still, this could be a worthy travel brush.

Everything else went just fine. Two passes to a near-BBS with one weeper (not sure if that was a technique fail or some residual from yesterday's Gem shave).

  11. Thanks, Clint and Jim! That is one of Jim's brushes - @Jayaruh - and it's a great one. Beautiful handle and terrific quality all around.
  12. Menthol Monday shave broke out the Proraso Green and some Aqua Velva. Sticking with the Schick Injector adjustable and used the JR 177 brush. Fantastic 3 pass shave no sting from the Alum.

Living life on the wild side with the Gentleman, eh Jason?
Perry,Does the menthol in the Grapefruit overpower the scent? I has a shave with MITA this weekend and thought that the menthol was the predominate scent.
Cool scales on the Air Mail, Brian!
    Fabulous photo, Mark!
The gold MMOC really pops, Jim!
    Beautiful brush and razor!
    +1
  14. Fabulous photo, Clint! there are so many amazing artisan soap makers on the market now, I want to try them all.
  15. No, not at all. The menthol level in the Grapefruit is very light and doesn't approach the level of MITA. It may be even a little less than Proraso Green. It's just a hint. The grapefruit scent is really nice.

A very smooth shave out of the Schick 66. The Stirling MITA produced a very nice lather that was super cold but I felt the scent was a bit overpowered by the menthol. The Satin Tip was my first synthetic brushes and still one my my favorites. Maybe its just because it has the most user and I really know how to dial the lather in with it, but it never fails to produce lather that is the perfect consistency. Have a great day friends!

  19. Great razor! Love that silver head and the navy handle.
  20. Thank you both! Its been a while since I've used a G. I had forgotten how smooth and nimble they are.
