SHAVE OF THE DAY WEDNESDAY Prep: pre shave soap mix Razor: Gillette Fat Handle Tech Blade: Laser Platinum Brush: Maggard 30mm synthetic Soap: Victory Shaving Rosie Post: Fine Santal Absolut Very nice smooth shave. Love the scent of Rosie, the sandalwood and rose mix well together and is a beautiful scent. Added water slowly and got rewarded with a rich lather. Finished off with Fine Santal Absolut, even though it is a different kind of sandalwood they still went well together. THURSDAY'S SHAVE Prep: Musgo Real Oakmoss Razor: Schick Injector Brush: Razorock BC Plissoft Soap: Wholly Kaw Lav Sublime Concerto Post: Sudsy Soapery Lavender A/S Pretty decent shave this afternoon. Not as close as yesterday but not bad either. Shiny lather from the WK soap and the scent of lavender and lime filled the den, very refreshing. Hope everyone had a great shave!
Thanks! It is indeed. Seems they stopped advertising it on the front of the tubs and now use it as the default tallow formula. Latest shave community fad, this one, along with Grooming dept - tried it?
I recently got two sandalwood fragrances and have been looking to get a splash. Interested to hear how you describe Fine’s version (and the soap, since you find they differ)?

Smooth Steve, I am intrigued by the Genuine Creosote Aftershave. Can you describe what it smells like? Does it have any burn?
Friday's SE Shave Proraso Pre Shave Arko Extra Performance Jayaruh #216 Gem G-Bar CVS SE CWR Thayer's Lemon WH Vegetal I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Arko Extra Performance Shaving Cream face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #216 synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Gem G-Bar razor and a CVS SE blade. I ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Lemon WH and then Clubman Vegetal AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Good photo Guy. The Symmetrical Pottery are excellent bowls for building lather. One of my favorites if not my favorite.

Tonight's shave was with a newly acquired, restored, and freshly honed razor. I had a buttery smooth 2 pass shave, with minor touch ups, that left me BDBS. I had zero issues. Fantastic old razor. Razor- "Perfection", by Swank H.W. Co. Warranted. Full hollow ground. Brush- Omega 10098, Boar Soap- Arko/Rose scented Aftershave- Pinaud Clubman
Thank you gentlemen, greatly appreciated. With all the bowl and scuttles in my den, I find the Symmetrical Pottery to be the best for me in lathering.
If I didn't know you were a Marine way back I would have guessed an Old Spice sales rep with that collection you keep rolling out each day
The eBay market for Fs is funny. There was a frenzy a year or two ago and they were going for hundreds of dollars with a case and well over a hundred without. Then it started raining Fs and they were plentiful and could be bought uncased for less than $80. It was insane. Lately they seem to be moving into relative scarcity again. Who knows? All I know is they are a knockout and a wonderful razor.
SOTF 9.21.2017 Pre-shave: Quick hot shower Cream: Caffeinated Shaving Cream by Pacific Shave Co. Brush: Omega Hi-Brush synthetic Razor: vintage bullet tip Micromatic Blade: Gem Stainless (5) Post-shave: Thayer's witch hazel, Gillette AS Gel, Walgreen's Cooling AS Close, comfortable shave but I've pushed this blade as far as I want to go. I retired it right after this shave. It performed well. Time to take a few days off from shaving and try a different razor on Sunday or Monday. But I'll be stopping in to see how everyone else's shaves are going. Happy shaves!
September 21, 2017 Jamie's NIGHT SHAVE... Aramis!!! PAA/Crown King tribute to vintage Aramis - I never used it but man I love this scent!! classic manly scent. 1. PAA ICE pre shave lather booster. 2. Crown King Porthos Soap. 3. SEMOGUE 610 boar w/Turkish copper bowl. 4. Ming Shing set on 3 - SHARK Chrome on 2nd shave - 3 passes + neck pick-ups for a BBS. 2 weepers under the nostril - I just cant get used to the large head, also I did not shave my upper lip for 25 plus years until recently - so not much practice. 5. ALUM 6. Crown King Porthos After shave cologne. 7. Crown King Porthos STAR JELLY - a new type of balm offered by PAA and it is FANASTIC. No grease what so ever - it does great moisturizing, but the best part is the initial application after the shave - it has a cooling and soothing sensation that I don't get with much other balms, other than 444 - for my skin it reminds me of 444.
RAZOR: Parker SR1 BLADE: Derby Professional blade BRUSH: Shea Moisture Badger Brush - produces an excellent rich lather with this cream. PRESHAVE: Hot water rinse & Rite Aid RENEWAL Skin Cleansing Cream CREAM: Art of Shaving Lavender Essential Oil - for Sensitive Skin AFTER SHAVE: Clubman Lilac Vegetal POST SHAVE: None Nice & quick 1+ Pass BBS shave - except for some minor irritation under my right jaw. Derby blade provides a very smooth feel both WTG (cheeks) & ATG (neck). Lather was just sufficient for 1 full pass with touchups. I Face lathered, should have loaded the brush with more cream. But the Shea Moisture brush is soft and very comfortable on the face, pampering my skin. I am acquiring a taste (nose?) for the Lilac Vegetal. I can still smell the scent as I type this hours after my morning shave. Nice.
