  3. SOTD October 9, 2017
focus on shave preparation & product
RAZOR: Pacific Quality Stainless DE Razor (Handle)
BLADE: Pacific Double Edge blade - second use - no stropping or additional attention given to the blade.
PREP: hot shower followed by hot water face rinse
BRUSH: SheaMoisture Ultimate Shave Brush - black badger knot. Plenty of rich lather.
PRE-SHAVE: used bloom water from AOS Cream - I floated some water on the top of the cream *AND my shave smoothing secret weapon - Rite Aid Renewal Skin Cleansing Cream
SHAVE CREAM: The Art of Shaving - Lavender Essential Oil - for Sensitive Skin - bowl lather
    POST SHAVE: Hot water rinse
    AFTER SHAVE: Clubman Lilac Vegetal
    Pacific_DE_SheaMoisture_AOS_Lavender.jpg
In this shave, I focused on the shave prep and products NOT on the DE razor.
The Pacific Razor is known elsewhere as the Dollar Tree $1 Safety Razor (as seen in the Hot Deals section of the forum).

Though all of the products used in preparing for this shave may not be considered luxury, I have had excellent results using them under a variety of conditions.
I consider them all very good at conditioning my beard for an excellent shave. Add to that a hot shower, immediately proceeding the shave, and this is what I call premium prep.

The result was an excellent 3 pass BBS shave - no touchups needed - with a very inexpensive DE razor and blade combo.
Enjoyed every moment of this quick, efficient, and yes even smooth shave. Face feels great all day long.

What a hobby this is. Thanks for viewing!
  4. Razor: Blackbird OC Delta Echo Razor Finish
    Blade: Personna Tungsten 74 (3)
Brush: 30 Day Crew w/ LS 2 Band
Soap: Cold River Soap Works Jeff's Soap
    A/S: Folsom & Co. Shambala

The TSD 30 DC brush is working perfectly, along with the CRSW Jeff's Soap. Blackland Blackbird (Blue Bird :)) provides an excellent close comfortable after the Delta Echo Razor finishing. Folsom & Company Shambala is a great finish.

A great, great shave today. 2 pass plus touch ups and a BBS conclusion. I don't know if the handle contributes in any way, but the feel and balance is just superb. And I believe the WSP Formula T with Tallow is just an excellent soap that hits it all on lather, protection, cushion, slickness and post shave feel. Did I mention that it was a great shave? Have a great evening and shaves Gents...... ;)

This soap has my favorite scent of all my soaps... a delicious, gourmand, fig and vanille sweet and warm aroma. And the lather it's something else too. The Heljestrand... I think I'm falling in love!
  9. Tonight's shave was with a razor, donated by @Morman Bridge , and @mrchick for the blade. I had a weird feeling 2 pass shave, that wasn't tugging, or uncomfortable, just different. This left me with a DFS, and zero issues. Very unique looking and feeling razor. Lots of work to get one shave ready.

    Razor- "Universal". Replaceable blade.
    Brush- Omega 10066
    Soap- Arko/Avon Spicey
Aftershave- Shulton Old Spice. "The Admiral".

    Proraso Pre Shave
    Soap Commander Renewal
    Jayaruh #222
Gillette NEW LC with JR handle
    Gillette Silver Blue
    CWR
    Thayer's Peach WH
    Pinaud Vanilla

I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Soap Commander Renewal face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #222 synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Gillette NEW LC razor and Gillette Silver Blue blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Peach WH and then Pinaud Vanilla AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

  19. Nah @EzraCobb I've got way too many shaving soaps as I have 58 tubs now, and I'm running out of room in a very tight space and beside I have 23 tubs of Stirling ;)
  20. The stick is from late 1950's to early '60's. If you are familiar with Arko, similar size but came in a plastic container. The lid was missing, and only 3/4 of the foil wrapped stick in when I found it in the wild. It's quite dry but softens up easily. Makes very good lather so it's not like Modern Williams.
