13 OCtober Friday, 13 Oct 2017 Pre-Shave: Hot Shower Brush: 28mm Faux Finest Badger, Frank Shaving (FS) Soap: Edwin Jagger SS Razor: Valet VC2, Autostrop Blade: Feather FAS-10 Carbon Steel(CS), Feather Seikan (2) Strop: Amish made Post-Shave: Cold Water rinse, OSMA Alum block and Brisk Spice, Avon Photo: I had umbilical hernia surgery a month ago today. Yesterday I felt as though I had been sucker punched in gut so I spent most of the day in bed. I think I must have done to much the other day. When I went to get up this morning I had some more pain, so I am home again today taking it easy. After a shower it's surprising how much better a shave can make you feel. I used the oldest soap I have, Edwin Jagger, I think it may have been their aloe vera scent. I chose the FS faux finest to try and use the soap up. Strop the blade 10 times on the razor before the shave. I did a three pass shave that was smooth as well as close. I don't want to say BBS but the shave was so close to BBS. Finished the shave with some Brisk Spice AS. I now am BBS and feeling better than before. Final thoughts on the shave: A good shave can and will make you feel better. Stropping the blade does make an impact on the blade which leads to a better shave.
y'know, interesting you mention that. At times, I end up with not as much soap on my face, meaning the soap appears too watery, and I always fear the reason is I didn't shake off enough water from the brush.
Its all about finding the sweet spot. Either start with less water and add a little at a time as you load. Or start with more water and let the suds fly, and keep loading till you get enough soap. Another reason could be that you just haven't worked the lather enough to get it to thicken up. You can get the lather as thick as spackle if you keep working it.
Should be a little easier with the Stoylin and 66 pucks, but I'll try those ideas. Thanks. Course I'll add 2 more pucks before NB18 .
OCtober 13 SOTD: Stirling Synthetic Brush Stirling Sandalwood Phoenix DOC Stirling Unscented PSB Stirling Sandalwood AS I was busy while on the road and am several days behind on the thread. It was a great shave this morning with some Sandalwood. Every time I use this razor, I wonder why I don't use it more often. It is an easy shaver. I hope everyone is having a great day!
