  1. Thank you so much Paul.
  2. No worries Randy. I actually missed it. Thanks again.
  3. I just used a tube of the Palmolive shave cream. It performed really well, and the scent was pleasant. I have two Palmolive shave sticks that I haven't used yet. I expect they will perform about as well as the cream. I thought they would be good adds to my travel kit. I got all three for about $6 or $7 right off the shelf in a small chemist's shop when I was in England earlier this year. The look of the store clerk was priceless when he saw me grab three of only four Palmolive items he had on the shelf. With the local shortage of shaving supplies, I'm sure the men in that small village had to celebrate an early No Shave November. :)

  5. It's been a crazy busy month. I've been working through my OC razors. I took a break from them tonight and went with a good ol' flare tip. Lord blade, Maggard Plissoft, PAA Cool Spice soap, Old Spice AS. Smooth, effortless, effective.

  6. I feel your pain. We have 6 straight Saturdays of competition. I work feds so it makes for looooong days. Add in Friday night football, and my daughter has 3 hour practices 3-4 days a week. Football with my son 4 nights a week, dance with the littlest one, and work on top of it...I am waiting for November so we can sleep.

    Razor - Fatip Piccolo
    Blade - [IMG] (3)
    Pre-shave - Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap
    Soap - Truefitt & Hill 1805
    Brush - 30DC LE
    Post - Alum

Shave 3 of 3 with this setup and I'm sorry to see it go. The Fatip is an amazing razor that really delivers fantastic shaves. It can also be a biter but it has treated me like a king this week. The Stirling pre-shave has also helped I'm sure as I have liked the slickness it adds to the shave as well as the after-shave feel. The minimalist inside me is still saying "STOP THAT" but the results are making that voice softer and softer all the time. The Truefitt & Hill soap got away from me just a bit tonight. I gave it a little too much water and it tried pulling a Williams on my and disappearing. A bit of rework got the lather back where it should be so no problems after that.

Two passes tonight, some touch up and I settled for a very nice DFS just because I'm pretty mellow after a nice day off. Mowed the lawn today (hopefully the last time this year) and spent some money on shaving stuff as well as getting my head shave in a day early this week. Yep, it's all good in the Lou tonight.

I'm not sure where I'm going gear-wise tomorrow. I have an idea that is half crazy, half inspired. Probably more like 80/20 on that regard. We'll see how my brain sorts it out before tomorrow night.

Changed out the Voskhod, picked up the Menthol Monday Ingram and went to town with some two-pass OC kung fu. You already know..... alum was cool, Osage was cooler, didn't get nuts with it. No Variation November was how this borscht stand got started. Let's do it. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a terrific Tuesday!

  10. Sorry to hear that but my father had both hips replaced and it worked wonderfully for him. Best of luck, I hope the injections help.
  11. I just received this huge M Martinez in the mail and it is huge 17/16 monster. It is big, it is heavy and has a cool smile. For the maiden shave I went with Tabac and the 30DCLE brush. I decided this brush called for an equally big perfume, YSL Kouros, a monster in its own right.

Four passes with a very smooth edge. It was easier to handle than expected and I really enjoy shaving with the smiling razors.

Todays shave was another good shave from the blade. I stropped the blade fifteen times before shaving. Paid special attention to what I was doing when shaving and did it in two passes. Not BBS, but I wasn't looking for BBS today, all I was looking for was DFS and that's what I got.

Today was more about the Veg then anything. I got this bottle last week to try it out and that is what I am doing. I am trying it out with different soap combinations to try and find one that might work for me. I have heard others say that the Veg chooses the person not the person chooses the Veg. I'm afraid that I may not be in the chosen camp on this one, but the search continues for the camp ground.

I stropped the blade another fifteen times before hanging the razor up for tomorrows shave.
  16. Don't feel bad on the Veg. Clubman ran me, the girls and the wife out of the house. Just awful. I was told in no uncertain terms never to bring anything that foul in the house again. If I brought home the Veg, they would kill me.

Fine Italian Citrus Shaving Soap and Aftershave

The shave this morning was much smoother. I am hopeful that the blade will continue to smooth out over the next few uses. The WDC-8 loaded and lathered the Fine Italian Citrus easily. Out of the tub I get a synthetic quality to the scent that disappears as I lather. Of all Fine scents I have tried, Italian Citrus is my least favorite and I will likely not reorder when the soap and aftershave are gone. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.

    Prep: Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: GEM stainless
    Razor: GEM 1912
    Brush: Surrey badger
    Lather: Soap Commander Fortitude
Post: Witch hazel, Jeeves of Hudson Street Tobacco and Bay Leaf aftershave
    WTG, touch up

Great lather from Soap Commander's Fortitude and a nice finish from the Jeeves aftershave. The shave was good but had some redness on my neck and jaw line. Most of that has cleared up by now. I have to remember a light, light touch and to shave the lather only. Overall a good shave.

Back to a shave stick tomorrow, most likely the Wilkinson Sword. Have a great day!
