OCtober 2017 XVII OCtober, 2017 AD Smack. The Fatip looks cool on diffuse sunlight, huh? Shaves nice with Arko. 109th day on the stick. That bottle of FW has been M-Bombed like the Nevada Test Site. You wanna end your shaves with FW so cold that you best not get nuts with it? Here is how to get some. Let's all get our orders in line with @Queen of Blades down at TSD HQ and flood her shop with M Bomb orders before the holiday season gets cranked up. You need this stuff for No Variation November, AS is not covered in the rules proposed by @NCoxSTL , and AS with stupid amounts of menthol can keep things fun. If you already have MBomb, send a bottle to a random person on TSD or elsewhere and make a new friend in the hobby! Shave was good, finish was strong, and the evening was calm. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado. Have a nice Wednesday!
OCtober!!! October 17 Razor - Matthew the Haunted New Deluxe SC Blade - (1) Pre-shave - Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap Soap - Stirling Electric Sheep Brush - Jayaruh #46 Post - Alum I realized this morning as I was going through some gear that I had totally forgotten about a very special OC in my collection. Matthew the haunted razor is a 1935 (ish) New Deluxe SC and one that I like very much. I have let him sleep in his box more than some others largely because he's in need of a replating and I just hadn't gotten him sent off yet. Now, I know, some of you say that the whole "haunted razor" thing was an Ebay seller's hype. But there was something about this razor that really connected with me. Call it a ghost, call it just my appreciation for cool vintage stuff. Either way, it's a very cool razor. Grabbed the Electric Sheep for a mutton tallow shave on steroids and the JR46. I'm very happy that JR54 will soon be in the den to keep 46 company. They can share stories of their time with @Jayaruh and how they were once just ordinary wood until he transformed them into beauties! Lather tonight was thick and slick, especially on top of the pre-shave soap. Yep. Still using it. Two passes and touch ups got the baby back in the house. The New SC is just a bit more aggressive than the LC but just as fun to shave with. All it does is perform. Perfectly. Love it. I'll stick with this for two more nights then take a Shenanigan break with a couple of different things. I'm looking forward to two more nights with this razor and with the Electric Sheep. I see a tub of it in my future when the sample runs out.
Cartel rules require me to add the following warning: Caution: M-Bomb has been classified as a chemical weapon of mass destruction of bad moods, wimpy shavers and boring shaves. Use with caution or abandon, depending on local conditions. It is possible that we will just drop a case of this stuff on the Fat Man who lives North of @Keithmax . That should solve the problem. We now return you to the regular thread.
Wednesday Shave: Another new razor up today, a CV Heljestrand, compared to yesterdays monster blade this feels almost like a toy. I do struggle with small light razors but this one was comfortable to hold and has a very nice edge. Zero irritation but short of BBS. This razor was on my must-try list, only time will tell if it can earn a place in the den. Irritation A+ Closeness A- Smoothness A+ Sharpness A Razor: CV Heljestrand MK6 Strop: Dry Gulch Black Latigo Brush: Shavemac silver tip Pre: Proraso Soap: R66 AS: Fine Snake Bite / Edwin Jagger ASB Scent: Dior Leather Oud
OCtober 18 SOTD: Razorock Plissoft Brush Palmolive Classic SC Gillette Sheraton Stirling Unscented PSB Clubman AS It was a really smooth shave this morning with the Sheraton. This is a great razor that performs well. The Palmolive Classic is always a good performer as well. I hope everyone has a great day!
OCtober 18, 2017 Wolfman OC Ti (0.74mm) Personna 74 (3) Simpson Chubby 2 Synthetic Reef Point Test Depth Folsom & Co Capri Even with the procedure moved back to later in the morning, it has been pretty busy getting ready. A great three pass shave this morning ending in a near BBS. Better still no weepers this morning and the blade was very smooth. Now that Folsom & Co is back in business, I am enjoying the Capri. I hope everyone has a great Wednesday.
SOTD October 18, 2017 Prep: Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap Blade: Schick Razor: Schick I1 Brush: Artisan badger Lather: Wilkinson Sword shave stick Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Baker Street aftershave WTG, touch up Nice shave with the Wilkinson shave stick. Easy and plentiful lather. Nice slickness and protection. My mother in law brought this shave stick back from Germany earlier this summer. I think it's pretty cheap in the drug stores over there. But its performance is quite good for an inexpensive product. Shaving doesn't have to be expensive! Now - a question about boar brushes. I have three boars, this beautiful Jayaruh version, an Omega 49 and a Semogue. The Omega and Semogue are nice and broken in and work great. But I can't seem to get this little Jayaruh broken in. It's stiff. I've used it a good bit and it should be softer by now. What should I do? I haven't done anything other than use it for shaving - no soaking overnight or lathering and leaving overnight, etc. Any tips to help break it in more? I've enjoyed this shave stick focus so far this month. My results with them are far better. Hope you all have a great day!
Beautiful photo as always! If I were to start with one or two of the Folsom splashes which two would you recommend? I like the sound of all four but my budget is limited!
18 OCtober 2017 Williams Wednesday Shave Stepped away from the creams for this morning's shave. It was either gonna be the Fat or Williams. Flipped a coin and it was Williams. This was only my second shave with this icon. First one lathered fine. I thought I'd replicated my effort this morning, but, ah no. Lathered up for the first pass and by the time I was done with the left side of my face the rest of the lather was going bye-bye. Got the first pass in and dropped in more water and really beat the hell out of it. Managed to get a good lather for the rest of the 2.5 pass shave. Obviously I have to put in more work with this soap. Bottom line was a DFS. Splashed on some Fine "American Blend" and it was off to another day of fun and frolic in the wonderful world of corporate security. Later!
