10/18/2017 Wednesday Razor: Personna Flex Head Blade: Gellette TwinJector (1) Pre Shave: Homemade Lather: Proraso Green Brush: VDH Badger AS: Brut Splash On Oh, Happy Camper are I. Got back to my Flex Head razor with a 2 pass, WTG/ATG. Small amount of clean up. So smooth, close and clean. I have been using a couple non flex, with not much success, small weepers all over and a couple pretty good "Cuts". Been trying to save my TwinJectors for harder times. Sorry, but I haven`t felt like posting those bad shaves. I will get back to the newspapers on a trial basis. It does take a lot of time, mainly because of the plastic covering glare. I enjoy doing the papers, I would like some feedback on what the members enjoy the most. " Happy days are here again" I have never "met" a group of people that are as caring as TSD members. Thank you all. God Bless and happy shaving. Bill

Thanks Jim! I thought it was time to change blades, and I like to make sure no soap residue left internally. The arrangement of disassembled 3 piece just kind of happened. I tried a sample of Palmolive Stick from The Pass-Around Box. Good stuff. Are you enjoying the Cream? That OC DE looks great. There are a couple new makers of the style, but Vintage is classy!

RAZOR: Sabi Gen 1 TTO - (4 inch brass handle, medium weight, Gunmetal finish) - STILL my most aggressive TTO. BLADE: DORCO ST-300 Platinum - * shim added under blade - 6 0r 7 uses of this blade - I don't count - MAYBE I SHOULD! SHAVE CREAM: The Art of Shaving - Lavender Essential Oil - for Sensitive Skin - bowl lather BRUSH: SheaMoisture Ultimate Shave Brush - black badger knot. Plenty of rich lather for multiple passes. PRE-SHAVE: Hot water shower followed by hot water rinse. POST SHAVE: Hot water rinse AFTER SHAVE: Clubman Lilac Vegetal This shave was NOT enjoyable. I SHOULD have replaced the blade, BEFORE the shave. Instead, I muscled through it. Since I did not have ready access to a fresh blade, I suffered through much pulling and a generally rough feeling shave. Didn't even have time to hand strop the blade, though I wonder if that would have made much difference. In the end, I got a 3-pass DFS with some major touchups. I guess 6 or 7 shaves is the limit for this blade/razor with the shim. This shave reminds me of an insight that I learned from the book 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, by Stephen Covey. Habit #7 is "SHARPEN the SAW". The story relates how 2 lumberjacks compete to produce the most wood. One of them, stops periodically to sharpen his saw, while the other continues frantically sawing wood, thinking he is getting ahead. Guess who ends up producing the most wood. Today's shave serves as a great reminder: When I find myself rushing through my daily activities, I end up enjoying less, and even getting inferior outcomes. I already know this, but putting it into practice is sometimes difficult. Time is an unforgiving master. I sincerely hope that you good folks regularly take time to enjoy your shaves while you have the time to do so.
Thursday morning: Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave Soap Razorock Plissoft 26mm Monster Junjie/Astra day 4 Ingram SC Lucky Tiger AS Cream Fine Snake Bite AS Splash Chabrawichi 555 Cologne This Ingram cream I'll be using is from Egypt, and it's called "Extra Cool." It comes in a mostly white 60 ml tube with green writing, unlike the 100 ml original Ingram from the UK. The scent and lather are identical but this stuff has a stronger menthol kick to it (yayyyyyyy!) and better skincare. I have a couple of tubes which a good friend of mine brought me back last year when he was visiting his family in Cairo. That Lucky Tiger stuff is such an awesome, soothing, and cooling balm which I plan to keep in my rotation along with the Snake Bite aftershave splash. My friend also brought me a couple of bottles of the Chabrawichi 555 cologne. Its scent is a mix of lemon and lavender and I remember buying it a long time ago when I visited Egypt - if I were to tell you I paid less than three bucks for a big spray bottle, would you believe me? The wife ain't too crazy about the scent but I LOVE it. Barbers in Egypt use this cologne on their customers as an aftershave!
Been a busy week so I had about 3 days worth to shave off and when to reach to my standard Aristocrat but I decided to switch things up and try out my recently honed straight. Today I used ( TY @DaltonGang ) my newly honed Joseph Rodgers Cutler to his Majesty straight Jtspartan 30DC brush Stirling Executive Man Soap Stirling Executive Man After Shave Still getting used to straight razors and really struggle with angles using my left hand but overall an uneventful and comfortable close shave. I did somehow manage to nick myself yet again while not shaving but trying to figure out an angle and the blade slipped. Sorry but I don't recall the blade size Im thinking it's around a 4/8. For what it's worth the more I use Stirling the more I love it, I tried not to be an outright fanboy but it just plain works and works very well at a very reasonable price! Nice shave and I'm ready to go. Side note, my Contour II shaves me better than the Contour, go figure but that's true. Now go enjoy your day folks.
