Well I guess not all do. From what I've looked up they have been marked as saint louis, Germany, USA, and also some were from England. They mainly sold the keen kutter.
Yeah..Mine was a Simmons Keen Cutter..With Solingen Stamped on the Tang..I Have Seen a Few with No Solingen Stamp & this is Why Some think they were Made in the USA but they were All Made in Germany to the Best of My Knowledge.. Edit..No Solingen Mark on My Tang..It Says Solingen on the Original Box.. Billy..
Two came today. Both made in Boston Mass. Top: New England Razor Co. English Steel. Boston. 12/16th inch This one was a surprise. It seemed pretty sharp, and well cared for. I took it to the strops, and to my surprise, it's popping single hairs, all the way down the edge. I might sanitize it and see what it is capable of, as is. Bottom: Dame Stoddard & Kendal. Boston Mass. 12/16+ inch. Needs some hone work. The edge was slightly abused, but not too bad.

I did find one that was made in Sheffield. I was surprised. I’m guessing it was during ww1 but that’s just a guess.
I picked up this J.M. Schmid & Son razor some time ago and cleaned it up last night. It was in pretty rough shape. The blade is not in the best condition -- lots of pitting and staining, but I feel I can put a good edge on it. Scales and pins are tight. I did my usual progression: steel wool, 800, 1, 1.5 and 2k wet/dry and then lots of Mothers polish. I purchased it more because it was a brand that I did not have in my collection and it was dirt cheap. Not sure of the age of this razor. JM Schmid was active between 1871 and 1964. "Celebrated Hollow Ground (and a word I can't decipher)" on the blade. No markings on other side of tang.

Thank you gentlemen, I snagged it with all the luck I had left. It appears to have been honed once, and it looks like it was used maybe once or twice. It had some water spots that needed a 1500, 2000, 2500, & Flitz progression. Overall it is in near perfect shape other than one stubborn tiny black spot the size of a pin point. I think I’ll ship her off to a Coti expert honemister, I’ve never had a Coti Edge. Any suggestions? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
