Ever since I took my grandpa's straight to the Arkie it has become one of my sharper and better razors. The difference is fairly dramatic. I've always liked the scales and now they have a blade that compares favorably. 5/8 Beau Brummel C&S Oxford and Cambridge Simpsons Chubby 2 Synthetic Nice shave this morning. Have a good one.
Not only a great heirloom, that is one gorgeous razor! The bolsters on that shaver are just awesome! Congrats, Karl.
Great shave this morning with this old custom Sheffield 6/8" from Joseph Rodgers & Sons, "Cutlers to Their Majesties" (1860-1880s)
Hart 6/8 I picked this razor up in the beginning of the year.It was on sale.It would cut whiskers. But it was not shave ready by my standards.A quick refresh on a J-Nat solved that problem.Shaved with her this morning.Shave was very good .Razor seems to have nice balance and is an efficient whisker killer .My only complaint is the finish on the razor. It has heavy grind marks. Some even extend into the edge a little. It almost like it was ground with too coarse a belt or wheel .I know it is mostly a cosmetic issue .But disappointing when you pay over $100 for something that is supposed to be top quality . A $6 Gold dollar Straight has a better finish .
I looked at those during that sale and couldn’t pull the trigger. I’m sure they are great razors, but I’m of the sand opinion as you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks all - it’s one of three of his razors that I own. They laid in my top dresser drawer for decades - glad I have them and get to use them.
Saturday's Straight/OC Shave Proraso Pre Shave Jeff's Soap Shaving Soap Jayaruh #227 Dubl Duck 5/8 Old Type by Tom Gillette Silver Blue CWR Thayer's Peach WH Pinaud Vanilla I started off with Proraso Pre Shave. The Jeff's Soap Shaving Soap face-lathered well with the Jayaruh #227 synthetic brush. I did two passes with the Gillette New Deluxe Tuckaway razor and Gillette Silver Blue blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayer's Peach WH and then Pinaud Vanilla AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
I used my Morley and Sons 'Damascus' razor. It was three passes of goodness! Of course my JR 221 whipped up a fantastic lather from the tub of my Chiseled Face ghost town barber soap.
