this survey's coming right down to the wire as freaking cookies tries to make a last move against really cool DE OC razors
Other than I have wanted one for a long time, not much of a story. I've always thought the gold plated, Barber pole Aristocrats were some of the best looking razors. I found this one for a reasonable price and jumped. It does have a little plating loss on the doors, but is in decent shape. After the last week or so with the Sheraton, I am really excited to see how this one shaves.
It's really good soap. Performance wise I'd put it up against anything I own. Scents lack the wow factor, but they aren't bad. In fact, I think I'll use it tonight. Sent from my XT1585 using Tapatalk
OCtober!!! October 23 Razor - Gillette NEW LC Delta Echo Blade - (1) Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat Brush - Jayaruh #54 Post - Alum I decided to put off the next carbon blade shenanigan type shave in favor of a few days of OC nirvana. I chose the NEW LC with a Russian Sharp Star blade. MWF and the JR54 for a ridiculously easy and rich lather set this shave up for total success and two passes and a slight touch up later the baby settled in for the night. I think after fighting through less than optimal trial shaves the first one back always feels like the best I've ever had. But, with this hardware/software combo it's hard to get it wrong. Alum was totally quiet, I'm gleefully opening a couple of packages I received today that I'll share soon, and all is well with the world. I even have tomorrow off. Hope your week is off to a great start!
You know they used to make the Kriss Kross blade stropper in St. Louis. It would be pretty cool to find one of those to add to my shenanigans. I'm not saying I might have a line on one, but I'm not saying I don't either.
OCtober 2017 XXIII October Menthol Monday, y'all! Just like that....busy day and time for reading. Check out the grain in the brush handle. Good day with the lighting. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado. Have a terrific Tuesday!
Catching up again and realized we're just about a week away from NOVember. I'm going to miss OCtober and all the great razors but I'm curious to see what kind of no-variation ideas you all come up with. Mine is in progress. Package one arrived today carrying the following: Five Russian shave creams just arrived from the Motherland. From the left is Star, down the middle is Viking, Legend Steel and Breeze, and the blue tube on the right with no English on it is called мыльный, which translates as "soapy". Original name, right? So there you have a third of my NOVember puzzle. Two more packages to go. One's on the slow boat as we speak, the other is on its next to the last stop in Russia before getting put on the next boat out. I'm crossing my fingers they both arrive within the next 7 days. If not I may have to sing a song or do a dance to entertain you all until they arrive. But......it should be a fun month!
I have used other blade stroppers but have never tried the KrissKross. Even though I do have one buried in the depths of my collection along with a Kriss Kross razor. If your other prospect falls through, PM me and we can discuss repatriating mine to St. Louis...
OCtober 24, 2017 Wolfman OC Ti (0.74mm) Personna 74 (9) Wild West Brushworks 30mm Tuxedo CRSW Jeff’s Soap Floid Blue After several days delay in transit, I finally received the latest addition to the den and had to use it right away. The WWB 30mm Tuxedo is a monster of a brush with a face feel very similar to my CH2 Synthetic but splaying much easier. The WWB loaded and lathered Jeff's Soap easily. Sticking with my normal 3 pass routine with touch ups along my jawline and lower right neck ended in a near BBS shave. The blade is requiring more work in touch ups to get the same results but continues to work well thus far. A splash of Floid Blue and I am ready for the day. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.
Very nice Neal! It appears that JR#54 has settled in nicely and is playing well with the other den members. Congrats on a great shave too!
