Thanks very much for that information. We'll have to see if there is another site that will ship alcohol based products.

Beautiful brush, Clint! Does the extra size of the 30mm tuxedo alter the performance at all?

Great combo, Charlie (If that is your real name...)! That red tip looks to be in great shape.

It is always a good thing when a beautiful razor is a great shaver as well. Congrats, Jim!

Thank you. All the good attributes are the same. I would say it feels more dense on the face with more backbone. I need to use them back to back for a full comparison.

Great combo, Perry. What do you find exceptional about the Jeeves AS- scent, face feel, longevity? I have one of his soaps, but no AS.

    Do you know of any?
Great photo, Brian. I love the burl/resin combo on the razor scales.

Good longevity and face feel. Nice menthol kick as well. Leaves your face feeling nice and soft. I have the tobacco scent as well as Black Tea.

Thank you, Jason! I don't really collect razors (my wife might argue that) as I like to use them, so I am glad it shaves well or else I would have to part with it.

    NCoxSTL AAACK!

Awhile back I mentioned in passing that I had used my normal Organic African Black Soap during my shower. Someone asked what it was and I believe I responded. Well, for those who missed it, who were curious, or just didn't care at all, I thought I'd post up a picture of my latest shipment. It's actually a fantastic product, in my most humble opinion. It cleans my face and head better than any other soap I've found. My skin is a bit on the oily side and this stuff keeps it well under control. It's all organic and natural. I thought of posting the picture as a "bar" of soap - but I put my MWF next to it for size comparison. It's actually 5 pounds of soap in a block. I cut it into smaller bars. I'm guessing this much will last me well over a year easily. And it costs just under $20 shipped!

To answer the question I know is on the tip of someone's keyboard - no I haven't tried shaving with it. It produces a nice slick "lather" for a hand/body soap but I don't think it would work well for shaving. There are also three kinds of ash used in making it (Shea Tree Bark, Cocoa Pods, Plaintain) so it has a bit of grit to it at times. Kind of a mild Lava thing going.

Well it does include plaintain ash - kind of a banana thing I suppose? I'll send a small sample to anyone who wants to taste it. :D

Thanks Charlie. Lavender is one of my favorite scents as well. CF Creams gets a lot of top comments so it's on my try list next year.

As a loyal and now well-adjusted proletarian, I will be happy to let the Cartel deal with all the cookies while snacking contentedly myself on a puck of healthful organic and vegan soap... Did I get that right as per Ivan's instructions, Master? :)

Tuesday October 24 - Super Gooping the Fat

Delta Echo Gillette Slim on 4 / Topaz Platinum (1)
Semogue Owners Club cherrywood boar brush
Kent / MWF in beechwood tub
    Alum and Clubman Osage Rub

This was the inaugural shave with my newly refurbished Slim. As I expected, the razor is not only beautifully refinished, it now shaves beautifully too -- slick and very very smooth. I now believe these coatings are lower friction than metal platings; certainly lower friction than worn and partially missing platings. This makes for a razor that glides effortlessly over the skin without a hint of sticking.

Once again, I tried my understanding of the super goop lather method with my finicky SOC boar brush. The only difficulty I encountered was that the wooden tub only had about 1/4" of freeboard. I loaded light and long on the puck, drizzling in water whenever the lather started looking too thick and pasty. And very shortly had lather oozing over the sides of the tub and dripping down everywhere. It was good lather though -- the stuff that loaded the brush to the base of the knot "painted" onto my face like a thick coat of very wet and slippery plaster. It stayed in place for a long time with absolutely no dissipation and provided superb protection. Once again, I spent about five to ten times longer loading the soap than I normally do and that seems to have been about the right length of time.

I finished the shave with my usual alum rub no complaints) and rinse, then ended with Osage Rub. This was the first time I had ever used Osage Rub and I just splashed a palmful on the way I normally do with Thayers Witch Hazel, Lucky Tiger or even Clubman VIBR... !!!!!! ...... *#!@ $?#! .... !!!!!

It's been 15 minutes and my face is starting to feel normal again after feeling like I had just come inside after walking through a blizzard for half an hour... Clearly I need to modify my application method for this stuff...
